Shit.

After returning their skates to the hire station, Chan had grabbed Seungmin's hand, and together they'd left the rink and crossed the road to an outdoor restaurant plaza. Chan was currently pondering what to eat, since Seungmin had suggested he could choose -and Seungmin? He was trying not to hyperventilate.

Seungmin had to keep reminding himself it was only their first date and that he wanted things with Chan to be different. But he also just wanted to give in and take Chan somewhere quiet and kiss him senseless.

In the past, dates and emotions ran high quickly. If Seungmin had this feeling in his chest, and he knew it was going to be reciprocated he'd dive in head first. Cute guy at a house party making flirty passes? Snog him in the spare bedroom. Cute boy making googly eyes on a group date? Suggest they break away and then snog him in his car. New boy at school showing interest? Grab his number and suggest they meet up- and then promptly snog him.

It's not to say that Seungmin would sleep around, the most he'd do was kissing and touching, and the only clothes he'd be losing was his school blazer. But whether it be a hookup or dating, Seungmin had no plans whatsoever on losing his virginity, he just loved the feeling of being with another person and the high it gave him...well, that's what Seungmin had always told himself.

With Chan, Seungmin was mustering all the restraint in the world not to take him away and jump his bones. Quiet literally. Maybe it's because he used to fantasise about being with Chan intimately, maybe it's because of the fact that he was more experienced and confident, or maybe it's because he actually had Chan within his grasp and could visualise those moments more clearly, maybe that's why he wanted him so badly. Seungmin wasn't sure. But what Seungmin was sure of, was that if Chan was to suggest going somewhere private, he would cave like a house of cards.

Chan was everything Seungmin had imagined him to be and so much more. Already Seungmin was coming to love his maturity, and he was warmed by his innocence. He loved Chan's charming smile and shy flirty jokes. But what he loved most though, was that Chan clearly liked him back. Seungmin was practically ready then and there to ask him to be his boyfriend and make things official.

Seungmin takes a mental step back.

They couldn't do that. Not yet. Maybe it was silly to be balancing their whole future on 3 dates and Jeongin's approval, but Seungmin just couldn't see them working if Jeongin wasn't happy about it. He'd always be this looming structure in their lives. Seungmin would hate himself if he pulled Chan away from his own brother. Family had always meant a lot to Jeongin, and Seungmin had no doubts it was a two-way street for Chan too.

So Seungmin takes another breath and settles for tightening his grip in Chan's hand. "Picked where you wanna go yet?" He smiles.

Chan looks over at Seungmin, making him weak with just a glance. "It's a little simple, but how do you feel about street food? Don't get me wrong there's a lot of great places to eat here, but they're all super chic and if your anything like me I'm sure you'd rather be eating chicken than expensive restaurant steak and caviar"

Seungmin snorts, "Not gonna lie, we are exactly on the same page there, that's why I asked you to choose where to eat. I don't think I've ever been to a fancy restaurant for a date, but honestly, I'm not that fussed. Maybe in the future but right now let's go find some wholesome street food and stuff ourselves silly for a quarter of the price"

Chan chuckles, his warmth rolling around and wrapping Seungmin in mutual feeling.

Still holding Chan's hand, Seungmin follows the older through the plaza of fancy restaurants and out the other side. They walk only 2 blocks before they find an alleyway teaming with life, choose a chicken and tteokbokki stall, order, and sit themselves down just outside.
