Seungmin felt like an idiot. An undeserving idiot. His head was still spinning, and he was sure if he wasn't careful, he'd puke again.
Seungmin could barely remember the conversation he'd had, let alone how he got from the dance floor to the alleyway next to the bar. What he could recall, although patchy, was the fool he made of himself as he threw himself at the stage. He could recall his stomach churning and then his throat burning as everything came up. He could remember Chan scolding his friends and, most evidently, he could recall Chan's warm back as he had steadily carried him to the car despite it all.
You don't deserve that warmth.
Now Chan was pulling into a new car park only minutes away, and Seungmin, really, was at a loss for where Chan was taking him. It was dark outside and Seungmin couldn't for the life of him identify the tall buildings he could just make out, towering into the night sky through the front window.
"Come on," Chan says as he holds out his hand, "It's not too much further"
Seungmin jumps in place, he hadn't even noticed Chan getting out of the driver's seat, let alone opening the passenger door.
Chan looks down at him, and Seungmin finds his heart skipping a beat at seeing the kindness of his smile and his unwavering stance as his hand hangs in mid air before him.
You don't deserve that hand.
With a small sigh, hesitantly, Seungmin takes the older's outstretched hand and steps out of the car. He tells himself things would be ok, they had to be.
Chan leads them out of the carpark and through what felt like a maze of a dimly lit concrete jungle. Each step felt like a tidal wave to Seungmin's system, but Chan's hand was the lifeboat he needed to stay afloat.
Suddenly they reach what felt like a dead end, but Chan pulls out his college ID and suddenly it clicks as to where they were.
"Why did you take me to your college?"
Seungmin had driven past, but he'd never actually been inside.
Chan looks his way with a soft smile, "Just trust me ok, don't worry. We're allowed to be here"
Seungmin narrows his eyes. The older's words were awfully reminiscent of the other day when he'd taken him up to the staff area at work.
Seungmin tightens his grip on Chan's hand and continues to follow blindly.
You don't deserve Chan's trust.
Soon enough Seungmin starts to hear light chatter and as they make their way through a corridor and round the corner, they come out to a large hall full of people watching a film on a makeshift screen. Some black and white movie that he'd never seen before.
Chan halts briefly before pulling him towards the back wall to an empty picnic rug filled with cushions.
Chan motions for Seungmin to sit down and promptly rushes off.
Seungmin watches as Chan makes his way to a little table set up with food and drink. He can't hear a word of what Chan is saying to the student manning the table, but he does note the water bottle they give him.
Just as quickly as he had gone, Chan is rushing back and sitting at his side, opening that very bottle and putting it in his hands.
You don't deserve his kindness.
"Drink" Chan says, his eyes staring into him.
Seungmin takes a sip.
"More" Chan says directly.
