"WHY IS YOUR LAST NAME DIFFERENT FROM JEONGIN'S?! WHERE'S THE YANG?!?!?!" Seungmin screeches. His loud exclamations drawing the attention of the gelato store patrons.

For a split second there Chan felt like he was losing Seungmin, and he had no idea why. He could see pain fall over the boy's face. It broke his heart in ways he wasn't prepared for on a first date. But then, Seungmin had mentioned his last name and it all made sense.

Chan actually thought Jeongin would have told Seungmin, so he hadn't brought it up, but clearly even Jeongin had kept their need-to-know-basis family secret, a secret.

Chan takes Seungmin's wrist pulling them outside, and he doesn't stop until they are alone on a park bench so he could explain. Seungmin looked agitated and confused, but Chan persists.

"So Jeongin and I, we're not actually related," Chan states, straight to the point.

Seungmin's jaw drops open, "Wait what?!"

"Jeongin and I share parents, but we're not related by blood"

"Um explain??"

Chan shifts in his seat, he hadn't been prepared to tell Seungmin about his family, he didn't think he needed to. But he trusted Seungmin, and he knew if he explained, Seungmin would understand and hopefully wouldn't hate him for never drawing attention to the finer details of his past.

Chan takes a deep breath.

"Years ago. My own mum passed away before I even had a chance to know her, leaving me alone with Dad. Thankfully Dad wasn't alone, and he had his best mate and his wife: aka Jeongin's mother. When In-ah's dad passed away, and when my dad lost his best friend, he swooped in to look after the both of them. Dad knew how hard being a single parent was, and he didn't want her to be alone. So, with nowhere else to turn, they moved in, and just like that we became a blended family. Fast forward a couple of years and they fell in love. So, they got married and the rest is history. Dad and my Step-Mum use Bang-Yang, whilst Jeongin and I use Yang and Bang respectively."

Chan swallows, he'd never actually told anyone about his family history, but then again no one had ever noticed the difference in name before.

"Are you ok?" Chan asks. Seungmin was awfully quiet and it was making him nervous.

"I- ahh- I'm sorry," Seungmin says deflated. "I just went through twelve stages of grief all at once only to find out I'm an idiot"

"Twelve stages? An Idiot?"

"I don't know Chan, I just kind of panicked when I saw a different last name to what I was expecting...I was like: is this Chan telling me he doesn't see a future for us? Is he just messing with me, three dates of fun and then see-ya-never?"

Chan furrows his brows. "Damn you are an idiot, but I can assure you, you ARE mine, even if it's not official yet. All my feelings are real." Chan pauses, "Remember how I told you when you were in my room that I don't offer things only to take back my words two seconds later?"

"Mmm?" Seungmin hums.

"Well, the same goes for my feelings for you too. I don't just say things and imply things while we're joking around because I can. I actually do mean it. I can use my imagination, I know the things you're implying, and let it be said, for the first time in my life I want those things too. I want to do things with you that I've never wanted to do with anyone else before. Which is crazy because I don't usually want to do things, if you get what I mean. I'm sure you're aware, I'm not really experienced. I've dated people, boys and girls, but it never goes more than simple hand holding and kisses, I've never wanted it to go further than that."
