Taehyun's POV
What are you doing?
I thought as I stared at his glowing face. He looked stunning in that pink suit, too perfect, almost. But despite how beautiful he appeared, I believe what I was seeing.
He seemed... happy.
The concern that had gnawed at me for weeks suddenly wavered, fading as I saw his sweet smile greeting the guests. It was as if nothing had ever happened to him. All my worries turned to dust, replaced by a strange, unsettling complexity.
"Sir Tae, that’s the human you’ve been asking me to look for, right?" Yeonjun spoke beside me, his expression mirroring my confusion.
I nodded silently, then began walking away from where we were standing.
"Sir Tae, shouldn’t we go after him?" he asked warily.
I shook my head. "No."
I didn’t want to disturb his grand reunion with his so-called family. I didn’t want to be the reason of his smile disappeared. He looked beyond happy right now, and maybe that was enough.
Leaning my arms on the tiled railing, I gazed up at the full moon. The cold air brushed against my face, calming the storm inside me.
"I thought you were in danger every night." I murmured to myself.
But seeing you now... safe and looking so beautiful in your pink suit... Maybe you don’t need me anymore.
A small, subtle smile crept onto my lips at the thought. But before I could lose myself in it, I felt a tap on my back.
I turned to see Yeonjun, biting his lower lip nervously.
"What?" I asked bluntly. "Are we going back? I’m tired as hell." I ranted, running a hand through my hair in frustration.
"Commander called for your presence." he replied, avoiding my gaze. "He wants you to meet someone."
He didn’t wait for my response and walked off quickly.
That old guy...!
I clicked my tongue in frustration and stepped back into the venue. The pounding bass of the music vibrated through my chest, making me feel heavy and restless.
I'm getting a headache from all this crap!
"My bro!" My brother's deep voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
I turned toward him. "Why do you need me?"
"I told you, I need your help." he explained casually.
I rolled my eyes in response.
"By the way, say hello to Eunwoo-hyung." he added, motioning toward the smaller man standing beside him.
I froze for a moment, my gaze locking on the man. Wow, he’s handsome... I thought, biting back a scowl.
This is my brother’s ex? For fuck’s sake, he looks like he has the blood of Aphrodite.
"I-It’s nice to meet you... uhm... Sir." I stammered, bowing awkwardly.
Eunwoo laughed softly and returned the bow. His presence was calm and composed, but before I could process much, the old woman I disliked the most appeared out of nowhere.
I immediately noticed how my brother straightened his posture as she approached.
"A snake disguised in a dove skin. How annoying..."
