Chp 14

Today was the day Kai and Sunoo were heading back to the pack. The two wolves were busy preparing themselves, carefully masking their scents to avoid any potential trackers or suspicions.

"Is this everything you need, Kaiyah?" Beomgyu asked, displaying the items he had gathered for the wolf. "How are you even going to carry... all this in your pup form?" he added, pouting slightly.

"Damn, that's a lot." Taehyun mumbled from where he stood, leaning casually against a big tree with his arms crossed, observing them quietly.

Kai warmly grinned. "Yes, Hyung! This is perfect. Thanks for treating my wounds, Beomie-hyung!" he bounded forward and hugged Beomgyu, making the human boy giggle affectionately.

Beomgyu smiled as he wrapped the herbal supplies in a blanket, ensuring they were easy for the young boy to carry once he shifted into his pup form.

"All set." he said, satisfied with his work.

"Bye-bye, Dr. Beomie!" Sunoo called out, bowing politely as his pink hair swayed with the motion.

Beomgyu chuckled and patted Sunoo's head, waving as the two wolves began their walk away from the shelter they had called 'home' for the past few days.

"Be careful!"

"We will! Thanks for everything!"

Kai and Sunoo shouted back in unison before disappearing into the distance.

When Kai and Sunoo finally arrived at the pack’s location, they decided to split up. Kai headed toward the secret gate he and Taehyun always used to sneak in and out of. But as soon as he reached it, his eyes widened in shock. The broken walls they had once made their escape through were now newly rebuilt with solid concrete.

He cursed under his breath, gripping the bundle of herbs and supplies he carried in makeshift bags. There was no way to sneak in through the secret entrance anymore—his only option was to pass through the main gate.

Oh, please, I hate answering questions.

"How did you get out of the walls?"
The tall guard with a huge bulky body asked sternly.

As expected, the wolf guard at the gate gave him a suspicious look, eyes scanning the logbook of pack members entering and leaving.

"I... I—" Kai stammered, scratching his black hair, unsure of how to explain himself.

"He's with me, Sir!"

Sunoo interrupted smoothly, appearing from inside the gate. "We parted ways earlier because I asked him to find some herbs for me. I'm not feeling well~" the pink hair added, feigning weakness as he leaned against Kai’s arm, closing his eyes for effect.

The guard frowned slightly, seemed unconvinced.

"So?" Sunoo pressed, peeking at the guard with one eye half-open. "Can we go through now...?"

The guard sighed, glancing between them before signaling for Kai to enter. "Next time, make sure your name is logged. It's the master's order."

"S-Sorry, noted, Sir!" Kai bowed quickly, and both of them hurried inside, their hearts pounding as they narrowly avoided suspicion.

Once they were out of earshot, Kai let out a sigh of relief and thanked Sunoo for covering for him. He nodded, knowing what he had to do next. He needed to gather information, figure out what was going on in the pack, and update Taehyun.
