"Luca- what're you-" I begin to whisper, fear dripping from my words, but Luca cuts me off.
"Stop. Just stop, Emily." He walks closer. Without meaning to, I confuse myself and take a step towards him.
His lips curve up into a sweet smile. "Miss me?"
"Luca, you hurt me." My head shakes in denial then my eyebrows knit together. "And I hurt you. You should be dead."
"Please, Emily. You think I haven't been through worse than that? That was practically a warmup for my childhood."
There it is. Mentions of his childhood. It takes me back to all the moments where I seen his inner child shining through. Moments where I truly believed he didn't want to do this. He didn't understand why what he was doing was wrong.
"Where did you go? And how did you get here? How did you get past the cops?" My questions spill out, showing my confusion and fear.
"Enough with the questions." Luca pulls me closer, one of his arms laced around my back and his other arm across my shoulders, hand holding my head against him.
"No! Stop!" I push him away.
Luca lifts the gun and holds it against my cheek and grabbing my by my forearm with his other hand. "Don't fucking forget which one of us is holding a gun, Emelia." He grits his teeth and stares down at me, eyes flickering between mine. "I never wanted to hurt you, but if you give me a reason to I will, properly this time." He warns harshly.
Tears prick at my eyes when I look up at him. "You're scaring me, Luca."
"I know, baby." He whispers. "But apparently, you need it. All you had to do was stay with me and love me."
"I don't want to be with you. We aren't right together. You mess up my mind and-."
"Just stop!" Suddenly, he grips my hair and drags me over to the window where I see two cops laying on the floor by their car, blood surrounding them, shimmering under the street lamp.
Sobs fall from my mouth, I cover it, trying to quiet myself.
"See?" He points the gun at them "I done this for you. We aren't right for each other? No one else would do all of this for you Emily. We are perfect for each other." Luca explains, eyes staying on the dead bodies. "And if we aren't then why are you still wearing my necklace?"
"You have to stop killing people."
"Listen to me and I will stop. I kill people because of you. It's your fault they are dead. You can stop all of these people dying if you just listen to me and do as I say, always." He looks back at me, his features terrifying.
"No, no I am not the reason they are dead." I say yet I don't sound believable at all because I don't even believing my own words.
I am the reason he's killed these people. Would he still kill people if it wasn't for me? Probably. But these people in particular are dead because of me.
"You don't believe that Emily. I know you're smarter than that."
Luca plants a kiss on my cheek and I almost melt into him. I want to turn my head and let him kiss my lips, but I don't. I can't.
Instead, I think about all that he is done to hurt me. He killed innocent people; an innocent child.
"Get away from me!"
He groans in frustration, pushing the tip of the gun barrel into me. "Take that as a warning. Next time you pull away from me, I pull the trigger."
"Honey? I've got your tea. Your mother went to the store for some fruit. She said a fresh smoothie in the morning will make everyone feel better...."
