"What can I get you guys?" The waiter smiles.
After Luca and I lay down in the back of his car, letting the sun rise, we drove to a cafe. Or, he drove to a cafe and dragged me along with him.
When we lay against each other, I cried. He didn't react to my crying, he just accepted it.
"I will have the maple pancakes, a chocolate milkshake with extra cream and a slice of apple pie." Luca answers.
"And for you, hun?" She asks me.
"I'm ok." I look down at my lap. I am still in a nightgown.
"You need to eat. You haven't eaten in two days and when you have eaten it has been something like a salad. Order." Luca sternly says.
How does he know that? Has he been watching me that much? And why does he care? is he going to feed me to his big dogs or something. Hell, maybe he will just eat me himself. Is that a thing? I read somewhere that vorarephilia is a sexual turn on to eat others. Maybe he was raised as a cannibal.
I almost get so lost in thought, I forget I have a psychopath and a waitress staring at me, which sounds like the start of a really bad joke.
"could I please have blueberry pancakes? And a strawberry milkshake." I say quietly.
"Are you ok?" She wonders.
I look over at Luca and then back at the waitress.
No, no I'm not okay. I'm so scared right now my body feels numb. Ive bitten my tongue so many times from shaking in fear it's now swollen.
But my voice won't let me tell you any of that.
"Of course, thank you." I smile and she walks off.
I look out the window and see it is raining. There is nothing around for miles but this diner. All I can see outside is Luca's car and pine trees.
"What're you looking at?" Luca questions.
"Nothing." I mumble.
"Come on, you must be looking at something." He tries to follow my gaze outside.
"Just the trees. Luca?"
"Yeah?"
"Why did you kidnap me?" I ask quietly, unsure how he will react to the question.
"I didn't kidnap you, I saved you."
"What do you think you saved me from?" I frown in confusion. Saved me? What could he possibly have saved me from? Somewhere safe?
"From your family, of course. And a boring life." He smiles.
"Thank you Luca but I did not need saving." I try reasoning with him, in a sympathetic tone. "My family are really loving."
"I disagree."
"Look, Luca. I don't want to cause any trouble. You can just let me go back to my family and I won't tell anyone I promise." My nails dig deep into my palms, the fear of speaking to him getting to me.
"So tell me about you." Luca flashes a warm smile, ignoring me.
I let out a reluctant sigh, deciding to just tell the truth. "There's nothing to tell. I am not even sure I have a personality."
He turns his head to study me and looks me up and down.
"That's not true. You just think that because of your family. You have to find your personality, it might take a while, depending on if you let it show, but it is there."
