Emily's point of view
Luca's tall frame bends as he reaches for the shovel. As soon as I spot the garden supply, I know what he is planning to do with it. Why am I not stopping him? I try to send a message to my body, telling it to leap forward and grab the shovel before he does, but I don't, I don't move an inch... too scared he will use it on me if I try stop him. Would he do that? Yes. He is always capable of the worst.
"Dad." An innocent voice comes from behind the man. He moves his body, revealing a young girl. "Daddy. Who are you talking to?" She speaks again towards her father, her big chocolate coloured eyes meeting my blue ones. There is nothing but innocence and wonder behind her expression.
My eyes dart to Luca who now holds the shovel in his hands, his grip tight around the long pole. All of a sudden, his hand reaches out towards the man and just as I think he is about to kill this kind stranger in front of his young daughter, and maybe her next, he speaks.
"Someone could trip on this." Luca explains with a sharp smile and hands the man the shovel.
"Oh thanks." He smiles back sympathetically. "This is my daughter, Ella. And I'm chris." Chris extends a hand for Luca to shake, which he does.
"Luca." Luca replies with a nod. "And this is my girlfriend, Emily."
I smile at Chris and his daughter, Ella.
"Would you guys like to spend the night here? It isn't exactly the ritz and the heating is currently off but we have a lot of spare sweaters."
My lips part as I am about to answer the generous offer, but shut as soon as I realise Luca wouldn't want me to make this decision.
"We would love to, thank you for the offer." Luca answers him.
"It's my pleasure. No trouble at all."
....Once Chris had invited us into his home, he insisted on showing us around. His house is run down, but clean and oddly comforting. Ella begged us to view her room, even when we didn't say no, she kept begging.
"This is my room." Ella gleams. Her room is painted pink, like mine back home. There is pictures she has drawn stuck all over her walls and her bed has fairy lights strung around the frame. And a den which stands crooked by the window completing the room. It is blankets and blankets all on top of each other to form a house shape. The little house looks comforting and reminds me of Luca's house he has showed me.
"It's very nice, Ella." I tell the little girl, which she deeply appreciates and doesn't hide the fact either.
From inside the house, we hear rain clashing against the windows and walls. Thankfully we had just missed the downpour.
"Well that is pretty much it." Chris nods at us. "You said you were in a relationship, correct?" He raises a brow.
"We are." Luca replies.
"Perfect." Swiftly, he walks out of Ella's room and down the corridor into a much less homely one, though it is still nice. The walls are brown wood and so is the furniture. The red bedding and the white roses by the bed add colour into the room. "You can stay in here."
"Thank you, this room is lovely." I tell him, looking back at Luca to make sure he's ok with me speaking to the man. I normally wouldn't be so cautious, but considering the situation we encountered at the camp site, he has been extra aware of everything even if he doesn't realise it himself, I sure do.
"Yeah." Luca agrees, wrapping an arm around my waist.
"Well feel free to use the bath and any products in there. I will get you guys some sweaters and I keep some spare pyjamas for when my family visit at Christmas if you'd like to borrow them?"
Luca nods. "That's very generous and much appreciated, thank you."
"No problem, I'll go fetch them. Ella, will you help me, love?" Chris smiles warmly towards his daughter, the type of smile that is impossible to fake.
"Of course, dad."
They both leave the room and I turn towards Luca. He places his bag on the floor and pulls me in close.
"Are you ok?" I ask.
"I'm fine, why? Are you?"
"I'm fine." I nod. "Where you going to... kill him?" My voice is in the lowest tone it can possibly go before coming out as complete silence, afraid that Chris might hear us, despite the fact I can hear him making Ella laugh from the other side of the house.
"Of course." Luca admits easily then kisses my cheek. "I really want you right now."
"You have me."
"I want your body." He explains and my lips part.
"Luca-"
"Here you guys go, two pairs of pyjamas and two woolly sweaters." Chris comes into the room with a pile of clothes, placing them on the bed. "I'm making broth. Would you folk like some?" He smiles.
I nod and smile back. "Please."
"It'll be done in around an hour, I will leave you both alone until then." The small family leave us in private.
My body turns back towards Luca. My hands slip around the back of his neck and I place a kiss on his plump lips.
"I noticed something."
"What?" He questions.
"They have no tv. So they aren't likely to have seen us on the news."
"Good. We need a break." Luca sighs and I feel his breath hit my face.
"I am going to take a bath before dinner if you would like to join me." I state.
"How could I say no to you."
Luca follows me into the small bathroom. As I enter, I reach over to the faucet and turn it. The hot water fills the tub and as it does, I drop a few drops of bubbles into the bath. Once full, I switch the faucet off and remove my shirt. When I turn to Luca, he stands still, staring back at me.
"Are you coming or..." I trail off, unbuttoning my pants which gives luca the motivation to remove his own.
When I step into the steaming water, it instantly tints my pale skin pink. The heat burns my skin but I can't complain, a bath was way overdue.
Luca slips into the bath himself, sitting behind me. His stomach hits my back and sets a wave of heat through me; different to the heat from the water.
