"I think I am getting the hang of it." Luca laughs whilst clinging onto the side of the ice rink, his grip dripping with fear.

"Are you ready to let go of the side now?" I skate in front of him, going backward to see him.

"Of course I am." He scoffs in a cocky way. Luca lets go of the side rail and choppily makes his way to the middle of the rink, where he slips and falls on his ass.

A loud laugh echoes through the entire skating arena and I bite my lip to stop myself from laughing further.

"Are you ok?" My skates glide towards him and I sit on the ice in front of him.

"Oh, yeah. I done that on purpose." He defends himself.

"Oh, right.. right." I nod and chuckle.

"You know, someone I knew named Jerry used to skate competitively."

"Really? Was he any good?"

"He is good at everything he tries." Luca laughs. " He done skating for a while but when he won a competition, he went onto a new craze. Once, I stayed over at his house and he showed me all of his skating videos. He was amazing at it And then he decided he wanted to quit and be an artist."

"Why does he change his hobbies so much?" I frown.

I wonder how Jerry fits into Luca's life, since he's never mentioned him before.

"He says there isn't enough time in the world to do everything he wants to do. He had cancer when he was a kid but he beat it and it really formed his perception on the world. I guess he realised how precious our little time on this earth really is." He shrugs. "Though Jerry has nothing on you. I have watched you train a few times and I have to admit, it left me stunned each time. Jerry's videos were cool to watch, but watching you... is mesmerising."

I tense up at the thought of him watching me without my even knowing. I forget that he knew me before I knew him every time it isn't mentioned. I think it is partially because I don't want to remember. It sends a shiver down my body, thinking back at how everything I done was being watched by him.

"Would you like me to skate for you?" I question him.

"You know I would love that, gorgeous."

I stand up, placing my hands on my knees to balance myself as I do. I let myself concentrate on the beat of the song playing from the speakers in the arena. It is a more upbeat song and my routines aren't, but I work with what I have. I do a routine I learnt a few month ago for a charity evented hosted by my mom.

I do a simple routine, filled with spins and small jumps and lacking choreography.

"Enjoy the show?" I say between deep breaths. "It is all tricks and not much routine since it was just for a charity event entertainment." I explain.

"Of course I did, It was amazing. I much prefer you looking at me when skating to you skating without being aware of my presence."

"Uh, right." I smile, once again being reminded of our previous situation.

"Did you ever see me?" His question takes me by surprise for a moment. I think it over for a few seconds before shaking my head.

"I had the feeling I was being watched for a while but I never actually saw you." I explain.

It looks as though he is about to say something else but before he can, a group of people enter the skating arena. They talk loudly and don't even notice us sitting in the middle of the rink when they walk to the skate closet.

"We should go get some food now." I smile.

"You are right about that, I am starved since we skipped breakfast and a few meals before that."

.

Luca talks to a man in the drive through, placing an order of two burgers, two portions of fries, a box of donuts and two shakes.

"I think you just need to give them a chance, they are really good when you listen to them properly." I finish our conversation regarding the smiths after the fast food worker left to make the order.

"Sure, baby." Luca laughs. Whilst waiting in the drive through, the smiths started playing on the radio and Luca switched the station. He replied to my question asking why he changed it by saying they were 'old people music'.

"I am being serious! I think you would like them."

"They are too slow for my taste." He explains.

"Not all their songs are slow! Okay, so they are no AC/DC which you play a lot of and is also 'old people music' but they are good." I laugh like a little kid.

The worker comes back with our food and hands it to us through the small window.

Luca passes me the food and drives off to find a parking space. I look into the brown paper bag and see a white note lying on top of the food. I frown and let my curiosity get the better of me by reaching into the bag and taking the note out.

'Someone in the restaurant recognised you both from the news. I wasn't going to say anything but you both looked happy and not in a situation that needs to involve cops. I assume it's just a teen runaway situation. They will be here in around twenty minutes, leave quick. - the guy serving you."

This is it, my chance. I can hide the note and run as soon the police arrive.
