*Um... I have no excuse for the long time no see. I promise to you I am not lying when I say I haven't and would never forget about this book and all of the people here who have been so kind to me and that genuinely haven't had the time to write and when I did have the time I would write any chance I got. I can't make any promises about when future updates will come, I thought I'd save this chapter for until I've finished writing the others but then I know it would mean leaving this book for even longer. I am so so so sorry. I hope you guys have a wonderful, wonderful day!*
No One's POV
January
-Avengers Tower-
The missing person's report Wade had asked Stephan to send out had been filed and thanks to the guardian ship certificate Alice signed when Peter asked her too, Sofia remained in their custody instead of going into the foster system. Soon the headlines read: 'Peter Parker, nephew of previous missing persons May Parker -suspected dead- has gone missing. Friends ask for any and all tips to where this boy is to be put forward.' It pained them to only see friends up on the TV and not joined by family, but it was too late to change anything. If Natasha Romanoff, James Barnes, Steve Rogers and Clint Barton claimed a small boy from Queens to be their son- would that change anything? Would it bring Peter back? Would it do anything other than make the press create crazy stories? No. It was pointless.
One thing that got the Team back into a positive mood after the News article (even Wade) was the casually chaotic announcement of Clint and Natasha's relationship.
Dinner was laid out and the usual bustling madness of passing dishes over and under arms, curses when someone nearly spills something, FRIDAY and Steve telling them not to swear around Sofia, random singing from someone off key, someone yelling for them to stop, laughter at a whispered joke, something finally spilling over, more curses, more annoyed Steve, and the giggles of joy coming out of Sofia. Everything warmed Wade's heart. Family. Love. Joy. Things that previously coming from Peter but now spread out over people he never thought he'd even get to meet. Something magical had happened to him. Such a fool to believe it would come without a price. Someone or something close to him would be the cause, he just knew it. A god maybe...? Spiritual or physical? Or maybe the only reason had already been lost. Just another runaway.
Not his Peter.
Yet he had to move on.
"Wade? Are you okay?"
"Hm?" He looked up from his food, "Yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking."
"'Bout what?" Harley asked, throwing another M&M into the air to catch in his mouth. He had been practicing this since Sam revelled it as his hidden talent and since then Scott, Clint, Bucky and Harley had made it their goal to beat him; one thing they missed was that Wade had done it around them since he knew them; an old trick from childhood. Peter and himself used to make a game out of it at sleepovers and once those had to end after Ben's death they continued to play at school, on patrol, and when alone Wade would bounce Skittles off walls. Soon, he'd revel his hidden talent and ruin all their days.
Wade shook his head and told the first lie he could think of, "Natasha and Clint."
Harley laughed, "Why?"
"Not sure," He ran a hand through his hair and threw his legs onto the arm of the armchair, "They're just happy aren't they? Still waiting for it to happen to me I suppose."
Harley raised an eyebrow, "Didn't take you for much of a romantic."
"I didn't either." Wade laughed. "Just thinking, you know."
