*No idea when this will be out but at least I'm starting it, eh? How are you guys? Nothing rlly different with me, other than explosive fanfic ideas that I think are actually quite good but will probs never get around too. Hope everyone is having/has had/ a good New Year's Eve! Tell me all about it if you'd like. I love seeing your comments, they make my dad. Love you!
- Also a little note I need to add because when I was planning all this, I was actually meeting the marks I set out for updating but life got in the way so the timeline isn't as perfectly timed as I would have liked it, you might not need this now, but you'll understand in the upcoming chapters
Alrighty well it's been new years and yeah, welcome to 2023!! First chapter of 2023 so that's exciting. Anyone else have something to drink? I did and I was tempted to write something and post it but then I think nothing you make sense, or I'd spoil sm for the ending, either way, not good. :)*
TW WARNING: Half of this chapter is fine, a bit sad but fine. The other half could be triggering to some readers as it is about Peter at Hydra. There is no immediate issue that I can mention as I put TW's before I write them, but I wanted to preface this before you read on, enjoy!
The Avenger's Tower
The loss of Peter wore heavy on everyone involved. Everyone kept it together for as long as they could, but even the hearts of those who never got the opportunities to bond with Peter the way others could broke when the cries of his five-year-old daughter echoed through the penthouse. Peter's best friend, Wade Wilson, held the fragile girl in his arms, whispered how sorry he was when she begged to see her father, fought every instinct in his body to not let himself fall into pieces right then and there. Silent, hot, tears fell from his eyes when he had to answer the girls confused questions the burnt through her as she rocked backwards and forwards in his arms, not understanding where her dad went and why she couldn't see him.
After twenty minutes her cries and shouts faded into broken whispers, her throat sore. "Where's my dad?"
Wade kissed her head, "I don't know."
The little girls' shoulders shook, "Where's my dad?"
"I don't know."
"Where's my dad?"
"I don't know."
With watery eyes that shone in the dim light, gentle orbs of confusion and sadness fell down her pale, usually bright, face. Her voice came out broken as she asked Wade the question, he'd been asking himself since he found the letter, "Why did he leave me?"
He couldn't stop his face from contorting for a second, worried his voice would give away to his niece how much he was actually feeling, "I don't know, princess. I just don't know."
Eventually, Sofia cried herself to sleep in Wade's arms, letting him pick her up and move them both to lie down on Peter's bed, breathing in the smell of comfort. It didn't take long, with his arms around Sofia and breathing in the smell he'd used as his escape for years, for Wade to fall asleep next to her. Soon after the cries stopped and no movement was heard from the little Parker dorm room, Natasha and Bucky came in, grieving the loss of their son for a second time but now full of worry for what he had left behind: his brother and his daughter. Steve and Clint brought them in hot chocolates and blankets, just sitting with them, waiting for one of the parents to show any sign of emotion. But it never came, neither had enough emotion left in them to give a physical response to the news they had heard. However, both Steve and Clint knew their respected partners more than they knew themselves, and with that they knew exactly what to do. Steve curled himself around Bucky like a shield, letting the older man relax into him while Clint lay silently next to Natasha, not touching but close enough for her to feel his heat. Even with the pain of losing their son again, both of them knew this was not the end, this time, they had family to stay alive for. They now know they have people to love and to be loved by. They'd survive this, for their second son, for their granddaughter, and for the men that lay with them. The ones that never left.
