It was a spur-of-the-moment escape from the chaos that unfolded in the kitchen—and yet to unfold in the form of a pissed-off Hyunjin and ireful Felix. Jennie dragged Jisoo by the hand, away from the front lobby where Roseanne pulled Lisa. With their clothes slightly splattered with remnants of the food fight, they headed nowhere in particular when the grounds appeared like an infinity of greens, with the trees fittingly serving as their hidey-hole to retreat not only from their mad gay friends but, more crucially, and not-so-subtly, maybe, from their feelings. Breathless with laughter and mild panic, the unnamed feelings slowly bubbled up their throats.

Jennie swallowed a strong wave of something that tasted of vodka and valor, making her think of the bittersweetness of it all—It's a beautiful tragedy, what hands are capable of. They hold on to things, people. They let things and people go. She should know better than to let herself get close to Jisoo again, yet...

Jisoo felt an electric current flow underneath her skin, just like the first time she laid eyes on Jennie upon their first meeting in person. The same thought ran through her mind—Of all straight-up karma—heh—you. Of all flowers, I'd pick you. Of all charms and torments: you. Hopelessly and furiously. You. She should know better than to let herself romanticize another moment with Jennie again, yet...

Yet, the moon appeared to be a paid actor for its warm shimmer cast upon each other's smiling faces, with the gentle breeze supporting the entire act as it made their hair sway to the song of the soundless wind.

In that infinitesimally small moment that they were looking at each other, it was as if they had forgotten about their entwined hands. Or maybe a part of them chose to ignore it. Ignorance was bliss, after all.

"Can you believe how crazy they were?" Jennie said, her tone cheerful like a child escaping from getting caught doing a mischievous deed.

"Who—those lovebirds? Ha! I'm not surprised idiot Lalisa would mess up this night, really!" Jisoo said in between laughing.

With an eyebrow arched, Jennie shot Jisoo a dubious look. "Are you saying you're innocent?"

Jisoo was practically giggling, her hopping turned into a cadenced springing. "Hahahaha! No! I actually played along and—did you taste cilantro—no, coriander—in your soup?"

"What the fuck?!" Out of breath, Jennie glared at Jisoo, squeezing the latter's hand to express her annoyance. "Seriously?! You're the worst! Ugh!"

Tipping her head backward, Jisoo guffawed heartily. "Aww, did you not enjoy my special surprise? Extra fresh, just for you! You finished it, though! I guess vodka makes you like cilantro, huh?"

Scoffing, Jennie elbowed Jisoo's arm, but it was not effective to make the other woman stop laughing haughtily. She checked behind them to see if anybody was chasing them, but they were far enough into the dark front yard to be found. "Ignorance would've been bliss! Now, I'm going to throw up!"

"Yes, do that here since you swallowed a whole garden!" Jisoo wittily remarked in between gasps of laughter.

After releasing a dramatic huff, Jennie complained, "You made me eat a pine tree. I might just die here."
