after each getting showered and dressed for the day, it was nearing lunch and zach decided he should probably introduce estelle to at least his parents.
hearing voices coming from the kitchen, he lead them in that direction while she was starting to feel a little nervous about the conversation about to happen.
"mornin'," zach exchanged a small smile with his parents, glancing over his shoulder quickly to the girl who was stood slightly behind him. "phoenix," he called as he grabbed her hand and pulled her to his side.
"you're name's phoenix and you live in arizona?" josh softly raised his brow, causing his son to laugh cause he didn't think he spoke loud enough for them to hear that.
"no," estelle softly shook her head. "my name's estelle- well essie, everyone just calls me essie but- but you can called me estelle if you'd like, that okay too."
"well, what would you prefer hun?" myta politely replied to the younger girl's babbling.
"um.. probably essie."
"okay," she smiled. "so how did you two meet-"
"oh- mom, we don't need to get into that right now," zach interrupted her, while walking around to the other side of the kitchen island. "save it for like a dinner or something some time. we're gonna have something to eat now."
"alright," she slowly nodded, agreeing to his reaction to her question as she made her way over to where he was stood and the girl still was. "well, it's nice to meet you essie."
"it was nice to meet you too," estelle leant in and gave her a hug and the elder started that action.
"mtya," she placed her hand on her own chest as she introduced herself. "and that's my husband, josh."
"hi," she smiled as she looked across the kitchen at him.
"nice to meet you," he subtly nodded his head.
"how was the trip over here? zach mentioned you took the.. train?"
"yeah, i'm not.. the biggest fan of flying so i take the train instead," she explained. "but, the trip was nice, i like long travels and getting to just put my headphones on and listen to music."
"why don't you fly over to her, zach?" his father questioned. "i can't imagine how long a train would take to get here."
"i am in a couple weeks for her birthday," he shrugged.
"oh, are you?" myta raised a brow.
"yeah"
"and when's that?"
"um.. just before halloween, for like a week, i don't know."
"mh, okay," she nodded. "nice to be filled in on your travel plans.."
"it didn't come up. and i haven't even booked it yet," he brushed it off. "ess, come over this side," he switched the topic, as she quickly complied. gently pushing her hair behind her ear as he asked; "what do you want to eat?"
"um.. i don't know.. what is there to have? i'm not too fussy.."
"have a look," he said as he opened the fridge for her.
after both deciding on something to eat and making said food, josh had now made his way out of the kitchen space while myta was still cleaning up as she was doing prior to the two coming out.
"sorry, essie, how long are you here for?" she questioned, the suggesting; "maybe we could all go out for dinner, get to know you more?"
"um, just tonight.." estelle replied as she spread jam on her toast, then glancing up at the elder. "well i leave nine-pm tomorrow, so i'm still in the city at dinner time but i don't-"
"we're going to jack's tonight," zach interrupted. "and probably staying the night. and then we just want to spend time together tomorrow. so it'll have to be next time, mom."
"okay, maybe give us a little more of a warning next time, zach, so we can plan something, yeah? we just want to get to know your girlfriend."
"it's just, it's still something new, that's all," he shrugged it off. "this was more last minute thing for us to spend time together."
"okay," myta nodded. "you'll make sure he finds time for a family dinner- or lunch, next time, won't you essie?"
"mhm," estelle smiled and quickly nodded.
