After the meeting had concluded, everyone was given a detailed case file with instructions for their next moves. They would be doing surveillance on various locations throughout Japan to try and determine where Chisaki and Eri were.
All of the work-study students silently received their files, then they exited the meeting room. Without even discussing it, they went to the main waiting room of the building. They sat around a table in silence. Midoriya and Mirio hung their heads.
"I'm sorry man, you must feel awful," Kirishima said.
"Deku..." Uraraka said quietly.
The elevator dinged, startling the students. They looked up to see Aizawa walking toward them with his hands in his pockets.
"Holding an all-night vigil, are we?" He asked dryly.
"Mr. Aizawa," Tsuyu greeted.
"You can call me Eraser Head outside of school. Anyway, I wanted to talk to you all about ending your work studies today."
"What?!" Kirishima shot out of his seat. "Now, of all times?!"
"You heard about how the League of Villains might be involved in this. That makes this a whole different ball game. And Midoriya, you still haven't earned my trust back," Aizawa said. He crouched down in front of him. "But unfortunately, I know that if I were to cut you off now you would leap into action anyway. So I'll watch over you. Let's try to do things right, this time."
"Mirio," Amajiki said quietly. "Keep your head up, man."
"Hey, I understand, Togata," Nejire said. "You've got regrets, so you're feeling low. But you did everything you could! Got it?"
"Yeah," Mirio agreed.
"If it makes you feel better, when you reached out to Eri to try and help her, I bet you gave her some hope," Aizawa said. He straightened upright. "So pick yourself up."
"Yes sir!" Midoriya exclaimed and jumped to his feet.
"I'll follow you to the ends of the Earth, Eraser Head!" Kirishima shouted.
"No need to go that far," Aizawa said.
"Sorry!"
"Pipe down, Kirishima."
"Right!"
"Now, with that said, the Big Three are on part with the pros, maybe even better. So, their roles will be more hands-on at the front line. However, you five will have much more reduced roles. Asui, Uraraka, and Kirishima. You three aren't exactly here because you volunteered. What do you think?"
"Mister—I mean Eraser Head!" Uraraka said loudly, standing up suddenly. "After hearing a story like that, there's no way I'm backing out of this now!"
"If you're giving us permission, Eraser," Tsuyu said. "I'd like to contribute however I can. No one should hurt a little girl and get away with it."
"Just looking at the first-years in this meeting, I think it's clear the pros must respect them," Amajiki muttered. "Especially compared to me. They show a ton of promise."
"You never miss a chance to take a shot at yourself, huh, Amajiki?" Nejire said.
"If there's anything at all we can do to help that girl, we'll do it Eraser Head!" Kirishima declared.
"I just needed to make sure you understand the gravity of the situation," Aizawa said. "It's fine, so long as you understand this: the goal of this operation is to rescue Eri. We can't make it anything more than that. The looming threat of the League of Villains is our biggest concern. According to the police and Nighteye, they're not active partners in all this, which means there's a low chance of running into them when we start investigating. But on the off chance we're wrong about that, and the mission suddenly involves fighting them as well, that's where your role ends."
