Present time...

The feeling of intense excitement in the chest is familiar to literally everyone. That feeling when various thoughts and options for the outcome of a certain situation climb into your head, everything in your stomach squeezes into a tight knot, almost to the point of nausea. This is a small part of what Becca feels, walking through the Los Angeles airport.

The girl had enough time to think about what she would do or what she would say to Freen while driving to the hotel. Of course, in her head everything looks much simpler and more beautiful than it will be in reality, but it is really worth consoling herself. Becca set herself a clear goal - to win Freen. No one told her from the very beginning that it would be easy, and you have to be an outright idiot to think that after such a lie you will get away with everything. No and again no! Becca knew what awaited her, and, of course, she was not fully prepared for it, but still, she is where she was expected, and there is no turning back for a long time.

The only thing the girl decides is not to push Freen too hard, but to give her a little more time to be alone and weigh everything up. Becca doesn't expect that when she comes to the Freen's bar, she will meet her, they will talk and everything will be fine. No, that didn't happen.

"Is she here?" Becca asks Jessica with noticeable excitement, glancing out of the corner of her eye over her interlocutor's back at the stairs leading to the second floor.

"Yes" the girl answers honestly, wiping her hands on her apron.

You can tell from the girl's face that she is already clearly aware, if not of the whole situation, but knows enough to be a little angry at Becca for hurting Freen. She doesn't judge her at all and takes it calmly. She certainly didn't expect a better attitude.

"I don't think now is the best time to visit her, Becca" Jessica continues to say.

"I know" Becca immediately answers. "I just wanted to make sure she was here. I want to give her some space and time. Please, don't tell her I stopped by yet. I don't want her to be nervous, worried, or generally worked up."

"Okay" Jessica agrees and watches as Becca, slightly hesitantly, leaves the bar, leaving behind only the familiar ringing of the door bell.

Becca decides to go straight to Chicago, wanting to fill her thoughts with work, not wanting to work herself up with bad thoughts. The bar is almost finished, all that remains is to put in the furniture, fill the shelves with alcohol, check the wiring, and a few other small things.

She, after leaving LA for the last time, has been watching the process exclusively from a distance. A good team did their job quickly and efficiently, the brown-haired notes as she enters the bar. She wanders around the room for about ten minutes, examining the work of the designer and her team.

"Miss Armstrong!" the designer exclaims in surprise, moving away from the worker and heading towards Becca. "It's so good that you came. We're already at the finish line, there's not much left" Lauren smiles, shaking the girl's hand cordially.

"I see" Becca smiles weakly, "good work. Everything looks the way I wanted" she looks at her wristwatch. "I'll most likely be staying here indefinitely, I'll need to do some paperwork, check the alcohol license. Anyway, I hope we'll finish everything by the end of the month."

"You can be sure" the brunette replies "we're even ahead of schedule. I can't wait to see it in action, it's beautiful!" Becca smiles with the corners of her lips.

"I need to go to the hotel now, flights are exhausting after all. See you tomorrow" Becca, looking around the bar once more, heads for the exit.

"Until tomorrow" Lauren says goodbye and gets back to her work.
