Present time...
Leaving the airport, Becca was a little depressed, but thoughts about the upcoming happy future prevented her from completely plunging into depression. After all, she only has to last a week without Freen, and she knows how to deal with the separation.
Now, sitting behind the wheel of her crossover, she is determined to talk with Billy about yesterday, and then, she still needs to meet with Ling, and the bar will not let her get bored.
"Billy, are you here?" The brwon-haired girl shouted, slamming the loft door, throwing the keys on the table.
The girl didn't have time to really turn around when she immediately fell silent, noticing the guy at the window. Turner sat calmly at the bar, reading something with interest on his laptop, slowly sipping aromatic coffee.
Becca sighed and took off her shoes, heading towards her friend. She sits down on a chair nearby and turns all her attention to his calm profile, which falls into the shadow of the sun slipping through the thickness of the windows.
"Sorry" the guy suddenly says quietly, looking blindly at the laptop monitor.
Becca looks at him for a moment and then just silently kisses his shoulder and rests her head on it.
"Forgive me, Billy. I'm selfish. All these years I didn't even ask how you felt. How do you feel..." she fell silent, looking at the steaming cup standing next to her. "But I am grateful to you for being there and still remaining."
"Because I love you, stupid" he chuckles somehow weakly, resting his cheek on his hand and casting a sidelong glance at his friend.
"I love you too" Becca smiles, and then closes her eyes when she feels a gentle kiss on her forehead from her friend.
The guys plunge into comfortable silence, only listening to the noise of the cars outside the window, enjoying the warmth of the rays of the summer sun and the wonderful music coming from the speakers of Billy's laptop.
"I want to tell you something, Bec" the guy suddenly began, starting to finger his own fingers and look at them.
"Mmm?" the brown-haired immediately pulled away from the guy, turning all her attention to him.
The girl is afraid to scare him away, because he is beginning to open up to her again. He wants to say something, probably something important for him, and she shouldn't miss the chance to find out, because Becca is beginning to feel that because of the past, she missed too much from Billy's life, and this is unforgivable.
The guy took a deep breath and told the girl about Sam. Literally in one breath he spoke about the night spent, about daily, nightly correspondence, conversations on Skype. He said that he had not experienced this for a long time, since his university days. The guy opens up, talking about his feelings for the man who has been tormenting him all this time. Who doesn't let go and doesn't take him in, and Becca listens attentively to her friend all this time, stroking his hand, comforting him, and her heart aches because she sees the guy like this and is angry at herself for being so blind.
She knows that Billy is very strong, but if someone gets under his skin, forcing him to feel, that person can break him. In Billy's life, as Becca remembers, there were only three people who could hurt the guy: Naomi, Phil from the university and Becca herself.
He says he can't get rid of the image of Sam. He remembers that night in detail and says that for one night, he seemed to have found everything he was looking for. He found the person he was looking for. Sam seemed like an untouchable, emotionless man who couldn't be sneaked up on, but Billy remembers what he was like that night. Sam was different, he didn't hide, he didn't hide and he was himself. But still he can't get over himself, can't accept himself, and in the end can't admit that he misses Billy too much. Obviously, it's easier for him to hide than to be with the person who makes him happy and free.
