                      Alora:

I purse my lips as I eye him from my spot in front of my locker.

As much as I loathe him and this situation, I have to do this.

Yesterday's incident was not something anyone should have seen, let alone him.

Deep breaths, Alora.

I wait for the bell to ring and for everyone to disperse. He stays in the same position, his back leaning against a wall, talking with his friend, Theo.

I contemplate whether or not to interrupt him but I don't know whether that will hinder my results.

When it seems clear that they won't be moving any time soon though, I'm left with no choice.

I push my shoulders back and lift my chin, clearing my mind and then making a beeline straight for him.

I stop three feet away and he pauses mid conversation, eyes looking left and then downwards, meeting my own.

"I need to talk to you." I say, leaving no room for discussion.

But of course, that doesn't work.

He quirks a brow. "Do we?"

I narrow my eyes. "Look, I'm going to enjoy this just as much as you, so do us both a favour and comply."

"Are you trying to tell me what to do?"

"I'm telling you to listen. I know that's a hard concept for you to grasp, but I was hoping you could have the strength to do so for at least five minutes."

His friend snorts.

Madden side eyes him but keeps his focus on me, a mocking tone tinging his voice. "I do have it. However, I'd rather not waste it on you."

I ball my hands into fists at my sides.

You know what? This was the dumbest idea ever. Like he would ever be civil even for a second.

"Fine. Forget it." I spin on my heel and begin to stalk away when his voice catches me.

"Wait."

Slowly, I turn my head and see he's looking at his friend. "I'll see you later." Theo nods and walks away but not before sending me a curious expression. Madden then gives me his full attention. "What is it?" He sounds bored but I don't miss the slight shine of intrigue mixed with annoyance in his gaze.

I turn my head back and eye the few people still hanging around, then move my feet to face him, taking a few steps closer.

I lift my head, not a shred of insecurity in sight. "About yesterday."

"What about yesterday?"

"Don't play dumb. You know exactly what I'm talking about." I eye a huddle of seniors and think about it before making another step nearer to him. "You can't... Don't tell anyone."

"Don't tell them that I saw-" Before I can think better of it, I slap my hand over his mouth. And then freeze.

What did I just do? Don't provoke him, Alora!

His eyes widen and I immediately take my hand back, feeling like an electric shock just went through my body.

"You-" He's momentarily stunned but recovers quickly.

"Don't say anything and don't tell anyone."

"And why shouldn't I?"

I can't find the words to explain anything to him. So I just go with, "Don't be a dick."
