A bad dream sure can bring back some painful memories, but Daisuke got Ray with him, so it's going to be okay.

"Blinding lights.

Barely standable Splatlands's desert heat.

Abandoned crater covered in dust.

Menacing oily ooze lurking in the place.

Danger prowling everywhere.

The only person here was a yellow octoling.

Running for their life, trying to escape.

They wanted to go home.

To be safe with their husband and son.

But they couldn't.

They got trapped, forced to stay in this weird station in Alterna.

Finding other prisoners, but they were alone among them.

They had no memories left, their identity was stolen.

Surrounded by fuzz, they couldn't rely on hope anymore.

Will they always remain dead to their loved ones ?

Or...

Would their loved one die because of THEM ?"

Daisuke's eyes shut wide open as he brutally perked up on the bed, gasping. Still in a panic, he quickly glanced around only to see that he was safe in his room, like none of this ever happened. The blurred images of his dream flashed one last time in his mind, progressively fading away before fully disappearing, hopefully for good.

Realizing it was just a nightmare, he sighed with relief, glad it was over nevertheless. Daisuke then took notice he was still tightly clenching the blankets in his fists and he slowly managed to release his grip, taking a second to calm down and regain an approximately normal breathing. After all, it wasn't like it was real, at least he could try to believe it.

However, it's been a while since he hadn't woken up in cold sweat, overheated and disoriented. Especially from a bad dream about his past. What Daisuke was sure of is that he certainly wasn't missing the feeling of sudden fear followed by an unease guilt and overall sadness. He thought he was getting over it though. Apparently not...

Daisuke exhaled, feeling a bit of a weight on his chest but he preferred to ignore it, already having a more important issue to be preoccupied with. He put the covers away to find a better position on the bed and that was when he saw Ray who had just woken up, looking at him with worry.

Ray straightened on the bed as well and slowly approached Daisuke closer, making sure to not rush him. Then Ray laid his hand on top of his, gently caressing his palm with his finger so that he knew he was there by this simple contact. Daisuke.immediately relaxed thanks to his touch and their eyes met again in the darkness.

"Are you okay ?" He asked with concern in his voice, because even though he was familiar with this type of episodes Daisuke could have, he still wanted to check on him anyway.

"Y-Yeah, I think..."

"You sure ?" Ray insisted, just in case.

"I'm fine, don't worry." He honestly reassured him. "You're here with me, so I'm already doing better."

Ray softly smiled at him, relieved that it wasn't as bad as he thought it was and happy that his presence was enough to comfort him. He spread his arms to invite him for a hug and Daisuke gladly accepted his warm embrace, leaning into his side. At some point Daisuke buried his face in his neck and Ray let him, rubbing his back in return.
