Watching as the boys filled up the lift, waving her a goodbye, Yoonna rolled her eyes at them. She reached out to press on the button as the door shut close, having to wait for another available lift to send her down to the carpark.

"Hi," she would greet a few trainees and seniors that passed by, getting slightly awkward when they came back again in a few minutes.

Ding!

Finally getting a lift on her floor, Yoonna dipped her head and entered. She recognised the new female on the same lift, just as the other glanced up at her. Yoonna nodded at her, to which she returned, and they fell into a pregnant silence. Time seemed to pass slowly and Yoonna was wondering if she could make it back before 7, their manager had specified that the CEO would be attending the meeting too and needed all of them to be on time.

Just as she drifted away in her thoughts, the lift stopped and the doors opened. Yoonna let out a silent breath and hurriedly strode towards her car, jumping into it and pluck her seatbeat. Jaemin had sent her Haechan's address, much to her pleasure, and reminded her to be back for dinner before the meeting.

The car slid out of the building, speeding up on the highway as Yoonna turned on the navigation to Haechan's house. The traffic was smooth surprisingly on a Sunday evening, allowing the girl to reach Haechan's house after an hour.

She tried texting him, informing the boy that she had reached, but to no avail. Yoonna groaned, stepping out of her car with her purse in hand and headed towards the guardhouse.

Haechan lived in a small neighborhood with tight security. The female had to repeatedly confirm with the guard that she had no ill intentions before she was let into the area. Following Jaemin's guide, it took her a 15 minutes walk till she stopped at a dirt path that led to an abandoned-looking house.

The grown out grass reached out to her thighs from the side, the trees beside the pathway shadowed over her figure, blocking away the last beam of the sun. Silence could only be heard around the area, not a single cricket sounding. Her footsteps echoed as she neared the gate.

Yoonna rang the bell after debating whether to call Haechan first, slightly disturbed by the eerie surroundings of the house. The chime of the bell could be heard, followed by another pregnant silence. Just as Yoonna thought no one's at home and took a step backwards, the gate cracked open.

An old man, with wrinkles and a slightly worn off shirt hanging on his malnourished figure, glanced out, seeming surprised for having a visitor.

"Hello?"

His voice weakly croaked out. The girl jumped slightly at the unexpected sore voice, realising her rudeness and hurriedly composed a smile.

"Hi, is this Haechan's home? I'm...his friend, and ugh, we have been calling him on the phone a few times but he wasn't picking up, so i'm sent here to fetch him to the company."

"I see... I'm his father, nice to meet one of my son's friend."

The man coughed in between his words, opening the gate wider and motioned her to enter. "He has been staying all day long in his room since he came back yesterday. I'm quite worried if he's fine too as he didn't come out for meals when I knocked on his door."

Yoonna silently followed the man into the house, noticing that he was walking with difficulty, coughing now and then as he spoke to her. He seemed excited to have her around, thus she didn't interrupt and nodded along to him. They passed by the living room and Yoonna could barely spot any goods in the house. Only two small stools sat by a wooden table, little to none decoration available to fill up the empty house.

"Donghyuck has been working very hard to pay off for my treatment and also the house debt," the old man sighed as he averted the topic to his son, his eyes dropping.

"I feel bad to be his burden. Even though he always assure me that i'm not his burden, I know how much stress he carries on his back and I feel sorry that I couldn't help even the least."

"Don't tell him I told you all of this my dear, he doesn't like that I love to share too much about his stuff."

The man chuckled slightly. "Ahh, I talked too much. Here, this is his room, I will leave you to get him out."

The man winked at her and waved a goodbye, striding away at the fastest pace he could get with his old bones and disappeared into the corner. Yoonna awkwardly stood in front of the door to the male's room, her hand raised, contemplating.

Only until she caught a slight noise coming from the other side of the door did she knock on the door. The noise went down immediately after her knock, making the female doubt if she had heard wrong. She knocked again, receiving no response, she called out for the boy but to no avail.

"Haechan? We are late for the meeting. Can I come in?"

"Haechan?"

Worried, Yoonna knocked louder. The door creaked open under her force. Darkness was all she saw, and she softly pushed the door wider until the dim light from the living room entered the room, allowing her to scan the room entirely.
