You opened the door of your room so vehemently that Rei inside jumped a little. He dropped whatever he held in his hand, but you didn't care enough to check what it was as you closed the entrance behind you with an angry kick.

"Hey... what's wrong?" He asked but you didn't answer as you walked up to him and reached for his shoulders to push him back towards your bed.

His calves met the wooden bedframe and he couldn't help but fall back to the edge of your mattress with a surprised grunt.

"Wait..." Rei mumbled as you climbed over his thighs and sat yourself in his lap without thinking. You were furious. Boiling... You wanted to hurt Ekko. And you were going to hurt Ekko...

Your eyes met Rei's surprised grey ones as you rested your palms against his chest, readying yourself for what you were about to do...

Your heartbeats thundered as the boy looked back at you with that strange expression, and when his eyes drifted to look at your lips, your cheeks warmed up a little. He had been bantering with you all this time, you were sure he wouldn't be against the idea...

And yet, why was it so hard to just lean forward and kiss him now? Why did you feel this unbearable, guilty weight on your chest, clenching your heart? And if it felt this terrible, then why was it so easy for Ekko...?

You felt a growing lump in your throat as you pinned your eyes on Rei's, hesitating.

He swallowed and when his gaze jumped to meet yours, his brows knotted.

"As much as I wouldn't mind this happening," he started with a sad smile. "The circumstances are not... the best..." he went on, gently grabbing your upper arms to push you back a little. "And I definitely don't want you to do anything you'd regret later..."

Your desperate anger slowly deflated for his words as you searched his face for a few seconds. His smile was almost apologetic as he leaned back a little and you finally fully realized what you were about to do...

Your cheeks burned up in your shame, and you quickly crawled off Rei to sit on the bed beside him, burying your face into your palms, trying to hide yourself from his eyes.

"I'm a terrible person, I'm so sorry..." you said quietly as your thoughts rushed through your mind.

When Ekko said that he would go and look for Jinx, you immediately got blinded by your anger... He said that you all needed her by your sides against the Noxians, but you couldn't believe that it was the only reason he would want to speak with her now...

"Want to talk about it?" Rei asked quietly and you scoffed.

"There's nothing to talk about, really..." You finally raised your head to look at your own palms with a bitter frown. You were so stupid for ever believing that this was the right thing to do...

Your eyes traveled further your hands and you finally noticed what Rei dropped when you marched in.

It was the photo you took from your old home when you first discovered that your brother was alive... You reached to pick it up and your gaze panned the faces one by one. It felt like you were looking at strangers - you forgot how your parents looked almost completely by now - and without this photo, you wouldn't have been able to recall their smiles anymore... Your heart sank sadly because no matter how hard you tried to, you couldn't remember how their laugh sounded either...

Even your own face seemed so strange now... You felt like you weren't looking at yourself as that person in the picture was so happy, despite everything. And at that moment, you honestly believed you would never feel that way again...
