Seeing her now was the weirdest experience, especially since the last time you met her was when she almost killed you, Raven, and Scar... And yet, you couldn't really hate her now.

You absentmindedly watched her laugh at something Ekko said, but her eyes remained sad. Broken. She didn't seem like the person behind your miseries anymore.

You remembered the shivers that ran through your spine that day - now you looked at her and she seemed just as miserable as you, if not more, despite the frequent smiles and warm gazes she looked at him with as she re-braided a few of his strands, binding them with colorful ties...

And no matter how hard you tried to twist your mind to be able to believe so, she was not the person that Ekko chose to betray you with. Even if the young firelight talked to her so fondly now that you felt as if a knife was being twisted in your heart for the sight...

No. You couldn't hate her.

And even if you hated yourself for feeling like this, you still loved Ekko. You loved him despite everything you had witnessed, everything he said... And who were you to stand between the happiness he seemed to be finding again after he believed he had to leave it behind once and for all?

The Jinx you met and whose father took everything from you was very different anyway. Looking at her now, maybe that Jinx didn't even exist anymore...

She knew no empathy and never gave a second thought about the lives she took. That was her reputation, the reason why she was so effective as Silco's right hand... This Jinx - well, she was here to help now, ready to join a war alongside Zaun and Piltover just because Ekko asked her to do so...

You swallowed because you knew you would never even get close to what she meant for him... What they meant for each other... No matter how hard you ever tried, you would never become more than... well, you. You couldn't even heal anymore... That was your only quality Ekko ever recognized you for, and it was gone, seemingly forever...

How could you ever compete with her?

And you would have been the most selfish person on this Earth to ever wish that he'd chose you... You would never see him this happy by your side anyway.

You shakily sighed, unable to tear your eyes away from them with the ache in your heart growing stronger. Your hands slowly stopped working on the plate you had been trying to fasten onto your arm for a while now when Ekko's eyes jumped to look at you and your cheeks warmed up in your shame.

He caught you staring... You felt so fucking pathetic...

His smile immediately faded as his eyes met yours. Turned into sadness, worry... You scoffed to yourself when you saw him say something to her and as he stood up, you also started gathering your things as fast as you could. Then you jumped onto the nearest hoverboard to avoid having to talk with him - you would finish getting ready in the solitary of your room...

This is what you were to him anyway. A problem always standing in the way - now, for example between his happiness and him. A mild inconvenience he needed to take care of...

You had always been that to everyone in your life. You should have already gotten used to that by now, and yet, you still let it hurt...

You were such an idiot for that...

You jumped off your hoverboard when you reached the door of your old room and slipped inside as fast as possible. You shut the entrance behind you and leaned against it with your back, hoping with all your heart that he wouldn't follow you...

You needed to put yourself together for what was about to come... You needed to a least try to be useful, and talking with Ekko now would just mess you up even more...

It was already so hard for you to not think about Neo... You had been on the verge of breaking down every second. Seeing them in this life too didn't help... Even though you knew that what you and Ekko once had was gone. Once and for all.

And you would have this conversation for the both of your sakes, just not now...

Please, not now...

But then you heard the knock on your door behind you, and all you could do was stand there with a trembling stomach and racing heart, hoping that he'd leave...

"Can I come in?" You heard his question and your head tiredly fell forward. Would staying silent until he left be childish now? Act like you weren't even there?

"Please..." he added a few seconds later and after a little hesitation, you turned around yourself, trying to numb whatever you were feeling at that moment as you reached for the knob on your door.

"And if I say no?" You tiredly asked.

"I'll come in anyway," you heard his reply and you rolled your eyes as you opened your door up, standing in the way as a weak attempt to try and stop him from entering.

You pinned your eyes onto his chest, hoping that if you didn't look him in the eye, it would be easier. But this way, you were looking at her markings along his body, and you couldn't help the painful frown on your face.

His clothes were completely different as well, decorated by her little drawings from head to toe. They were much less... comforting to look at for you now, making your heart sadly sink because he didn't feel like home anymore.

He meant that for you for so long and even that seemed to be gone...

You looked at him and you didn't see your Ekko anymore. He was hers...

You swallowed the stupid lump in your throat before your eyes could have teared up, but you were sure that you couldn't completely hide your stupid, jealous, and petty feelings...

"Hey, I was just..." He paused when he noticed what you were looking at and he sighed, rethinking what he wanted to say. "As much as I love standing in your doorway, will you let me in?" He looked at you with the same old begging eyes, accompanied by a weak half-smile, but this time, they couldn't make you forget why you didn't want to talk to him now...

"What do you want, Ekko?" You asked, pinning your eyes onto a crack on the door frame.

He remained silent, thinking for a few seconds before reaching for the pocket of his pants.

"I need your help with something very important..." he said, half-jokingly, and that surprised you. You looked at what he reached towards you on his glowed palm, and you saw it was a pair of earrings and a quite unsanitized-looking needle...
