The leading wind brushed into your hair and teared up your eyes, but  you couldn't look away from the sky. Yes, you had seen it before, but  you could never get enough of the sight... It still amazed you just like  on that day with Ekko, when you first laid your eyes on the huge,  endless blue ocean above the hideout's tree.

You were sure it  would be the last time for you to see it... Your insides were frozen  into a painful knot by now, and your skin was constantly covered in  unpleasant goosebumps as you were nearing Piltover on Jinx's airship.

Your instincts told you to run away and tell everyone  to follow your example and save themselves... But you knew that no one would ever listen to you if you told them that it was your gut telling you that you were all going to die... No one ever did.

But even if they believed you, you were sure they wouldn't turn their back on Zaun... You couldn't either, despite he city always just taking from you and never giving anything in return...

The  only thing that brought some peace to your mind was that, when you  looked at Ekko, the coldness disappeared. And that gave you the slightest hope that maybe he had a chance to survive all this... And it was right like that, because the world needed people like Ekko...

You  finally tore your eyes from the sky to look at the young firelight, who had been tightening a piece of hardened metal onto your lower arm for long minutes now. You didn't believe you needed that, but the boy insisted... As if a piece of metal could ever be worth anything against  an army of Noxian soldiers anyway...

The ones that could take down your bewildered, shimmer-infused brother with ease...

"I think that's tight enough already," you said, forcing a weak, half smile on your lips, and Ekko paused, half frustrated, half... scared? You really couldn't read his expression, because there were so many emotions mixed all together on his features...

His  eyes were tired, but worried too, the puckers around his nose told you that he was also angry, and the thinness of his lips pressed together  always meant he was determined, but all mixed together, you had no idea how to call that emotion...

"I know, I just..." his hands were still holding onto your arm, making you feel like he was hanging onto you, and you swallowed. "If you see anything nearing your head, you block it with this, okay?" he explained, reminding you of the day he was trying to teach you how to use a hoverboard. Except this time, he seemed so desperate for you to understand.

"I know..." You shook your head, trying to sound less scared than you actually were. "Scar gave me some lessons in fighting, you know," you said, and Ekko's brows immediately raised a little in his surprise.

"He did?" he asked, but he didn't seem relieved at all about the news.

"Mhm...  " you paused a little, remembering that every time it resulted in you losing miserably, but that was a detail you saw it better not to add. "I  was trying so hard to keep everything together while you were gone..."  you sighed and leaned against the metal railing that you had been sitting next to for long minutes now.

The other firelights gathered on the opposite side, all preparing themselves for what was aboutto come.

Ekko watched your face, and his eyes softened. His hands were still holding onto your arm, squeezing  it encouragingly as a small smile laid along his lips.

"You did well," he said honestly, but you scoffed a little too bitterly in response.

"Oh,  come on, we both know I didn't..." you shook your head tiredly." The hideout's empty. Not even the Firelights stayed..." you said, looking away from him, pinning your gaze onto the silhouette of the upper city  that you were nearing too fast.
