"What?" Ekko asked confused and you felt his thumb gently stroke your cheek in an attempt to comfort you, but you slapped his hands away, looking at him with pure hatred in your eyes.

"I said, don't touch me..." you replied and your voice shook from the anger you were trying to hold back. You saw his confusion slowly evincing in his features as his hands dropped into his lap, but even this way you felt he was still way too close to you. You felt the warmth coming from his presence and you didn't want that...

You pushed him away by his chest as your eyes burned from your tears. "I don't want you to ever touch me again..." you grunted and Ekko had to lean on his palms behind his back as you kept pushing him away.

"Y/N, what happened?" the young firelight asked under his furrowed brows, searching your face and your heart was beating so fast inside your chest by now, that you could barely hear his voice through the drumming in your ears.

"You were gone for a whole year! I waited for you all this time, even when no one else believed you were alive, and you..." here your voice shook to a point that you had to pause to swallow. You felt the lump in your throat growing painfully big and you blinked to clear your eyes from the stupid tears.

"What? One... year?" Ekko asked beyond confused by now. "It was just a week..." he mumbled and that made your hatred burn even stronger... He spent one, single week with her and that was enough for him to throw you aside as if you meant nothing. Your tears were now rolling down your cheeks unstoppable.

"A week was enough for you to..." You couldn't say it out loud. "You thought you could get away with it because I would never know!" you gestured widely with your arms. "I saw you with her," you grunted into his face through your tears and Ekko blinked at that. His confusion turned into surprise then back to confusion once more.

"What are you..." he started but you cut him off.

"You left us here... You left me alone with everything... When I tried to heal the tree, it was Viktor who stopped me from going further... He messed up the Arcane inside me so that I wouldn't heal anymore..." you deflated as you cried. Your shoulders fell forward and you just watched your hands in your lap, your vision blurred by the endless streams of your own tears.

"Who's Viktor?" Ekko asked as he searched your face but you couldn't bear yourself to look at him. You hated how you couldn't stop yourself from talking, despite being so hurt that you felt physical pain in your chest.

"He gathered the people in need around himself and promised them help... But I saw them... They didn't feel like people anymore just... empty husks..." You wiped your eyes, in a weak attempt to stop your tears. "I was there when you disappeared..." you added weakly.

"At the Hexgate?" You heard the confusion in Ekko's voice but you only shrugged because you absolutely had no idea you saw the Hexgate that night.

"I remember talking to you in that other life because of the arcane..." you said quietly and Ekko remained silent for that as he furrowed his brows. "You seemed different but I know it was you... You kissed her..." You finally gathered yourself to look at him. He didn't say anything, he was just looking back at you, searching for his words. He seemed both sad and... uncomfortable? You weren't sure. But he didn't even try to deny it and you hated him for that. Even hearing some stupid lie would have been better than him quietly admitting that it wasn't just your imagination...

"The only reason you ever even considered me was because she didn't care to bother with you..." you added weakly, your voice being hoarse and quiet, hoping that your words would at least make him hurt just as much as you...

"No, Y/N..." Ekko reached to pull you close to him immediately for that but you tried to resist with the small, remaining strength you still had left in your body. He opened his mouth to go on but you didn't care about what he wanted to say. He would never be able to convince you otherwise and you didn't want to hear his comforting bullshit that he did love you. If he did, he wouldn't have stabbed you in the back.

"I hate you..." you said suddenly before he could have started speaking as your fists collided with his chest, your tears burning your eyes once more. "I hate you... I hate you, I hate you!" you yelled, still hitting his chest but you couldn't really hurt him and that frustrated you.

His arms braided around your back to pull you into a hug, not to stop you from hitting him but to comfort you, and no matter how hard you tried to, you couldn't free yourself anymore.

"Wish I never got to know you..." you cried against his chest, your rage quieting down slowly to give place to sorrow and you felt his hug tightening around your shoulders. Your mind was desperately trying to numb your emotions so that you wouldn't go mad under the weight of everything. "I hate you so much..." You felt as if you were shrinking in his arms.

"I'm so sorry..." he said quietly after long, long minutes of silence, but you didn't believe him, despite his voice sounding honest. You would never believe him again. You would never trust him ever again... He wasn't sorry because he hurt you, you were sure about that. He was only sorry because you saw it all.

"I..." you had to pause because a hiccup interrupted you. "I hate you..." was all you replied in the end.

"I know," you heard Ekko's reply that was barely more than just a whisper. You felt his chin against the top of your head and if you had any strength left inside you, you would have pushed him away once again.

But you felt so weak. So unbelievably weak... You felt like you would never be able to move from that spot again. Just sit there and wait until you withered away finally...

"My brother's dead..." you said quietly after a while as if telling him would ease anything anymore... Maybe it was just a conditional reflex that you would eventually forget about... "They killed him... I took him there when I knew he still had to struggle to keep his self-control..."

"Who killed him?" Ekko asked and he let go of you to lean back a little. His hands gently cupped your cheeks again to turn your face to him and your eyes finally looked into his. He seemed sad and you could see honest pain on his features... Or at least your stupid mind made you believe so...

If you were still that naive, you would have believed that you could even see deep regret in his eyes, but you weren't that stupid anymore...

"You have to tell me everything..." his voice was begging as he searched your eyes and you bitterly furrowed your brows as all you could think of was them when you looked at him. And you hated him... "Please, Y/N..."

But then his eyes moved to look behind you, to the entrance of the firelight base. You saw his sadness turning into slight anger and your gaze followed his to see who it was.

"What is he doing here?" Ekko asked indignantly, his eyes following Rei's lone figure coming your way...
