We sat in the podcast studio ready to film. It had been a good while of us talking so we maybe have around 40 minutes of footage so far.
"Favorite holiday?!" Chris asked.
"The one coming up, Fourth of July!" I answered.
"Really? What an interesting answer" Nick judged.
"What? It's the one day I can be a redneck American and nobody can judge. Plus, I love fireworks and barbeques AND my dad and I would go to every Fourth of July block party. Core memory they were so fun, and I remember hanging out with like fifty of my cousins of all ages. Some graduated college and some were like five years younger than me"
"Aww that's such a cute memory" Mimi smiled.
"My bad I just yapped"
"My favorite holiday is the day it changes from summer to fall" Matt answered and I thought it was cute.
"Really." Nick was not having it.
"I invented my own holiday!"

We continued that conversation till we reached a dead end, then the topic changed to temperatures? Something to do with seasons as well but I wasn't really paying attention.
"Speaking of temperatures though it's getting hot in here"
"It's getting hot in here so take off all your clothes" Chris started singing as soon as that sentence left Mimi's mouth.
"Kid shut up"
"What?!"
I too was getting a tad warm, so I rolled my sleeves up.

"Nai what's that mark on the inside of your elbow?" Mimi asked.
"I don't know I probably banged something"
"Are you sure?"
"What are you getting at." I already knew but I didn't want to name anything.
"Nothing but are you okay"
"I'm doing great?"
"That isn't bruising like a bang-"
"I didn't relapse what the fuck?!"
"I didn't say that-"
"You were thinking it"
"Yes but-"
"Yea no" I got up and left.
That was embarrassing. Especially to point out in a group setting.

I went downstairs and sat in the living room. Matt came downstairs too>
"I'm fine" I said before he was able to ask.
"I know but I'm sure Mimi is just worried"
"I spent only a week off of the medication and she already overreacts over a tiny mark. I'm not a mental patient and I can function perfectly fine without a prescription."
"I know I believe you"
"She called me out in such an embarrassing way"
"She's just worried"
"I get it, the classic, 'we're just worried' or 'I just want to make sure you're okay!' I don't need that, and Mimi of all people should've known."
"Can you blame her?"
"What?"
"Only a few years ago she almost lost her bestest friend in the world because that best friend wanted to take her own life. I know it's selfish to think of in that way of her perspective, but you didn't just affect yourself and Eli that day, Silv"
I looked away from him when he said that. I understood it, it made sense, but I didn't like it. I didn't like the fact it was true, or how I should look at others perspectives. Those words just reminded me of the day Mimi found out about my self-harm. She said those words. Those words of 'my perspective' and 'selfish' and how I 'didn't just affect myself.' She called me selfish and I remember the whole conversation like the back of my hand. It was almost our last. I know she still regrets what she said in that conversation and apologized a million times for it. I forgave her, but, I never forgot it.

Matt and I looked at the stairs as Mimi came down. When she reached the bottom, she stood there. I got up and gave her a hug. She was definitely confused but she didn't hesitate to reciprocate.
