On their way back from the hospital, Dilan kept stealing glances at her husband. Tears were trying to come out of her eyes. "Dilan!" She could hear the concern in Baran's voice. "Is something wrong? Should we go back to the hospital?" She indicated no. "Sorry, it is just..." Baran parked the truck and turned it off to better look at her. "It is just what, my angel?" She placed her hand on his cheeks and brushed his beard. "You've been taking such good care of me, while I have neglected you and you felt as sick as I was..." Baran stopped her. "There is no such thing. Besides, I don't feel sick. There have been a couple of moments. That is all." She frowned. Her mood changed completely. "Baran, there have been more than a couple and you know it. Back in Mardin, last week, with Kerem..." She remembered when Kerem visited her to update her on the Foundation, he told her about the perfume incident. "Baran! We need to tell Kerem. He felt so bad the other day. We should tell..." Baran put his finger on her lips. "Dilan!" His voice sounded menacing. "There is no need to tell anything to Kerem. We haven't spoken about it again. No need to revisit it." Dilan pressed her lips together to stop her from laughing at his reaction. "I don't understand. The doctor already explained..." He raised his tone slightly. "Dilan! This is a pointless discussion. There is no need to tell anyone about this. Anyone!" He emphasized the last word. "Are you embarrassed?" She arched an eyebrow waiting for his answer. "Why would I be? The doctor said it happens to a lot of men... Although I've never heard anyone around us who this has happened to." The last sentence, he said under his breath, but Dilan heard him. He started the truck's engine and resumed driving.
Dilan decided to tease her husband. He was overreacting to something she found endearing. "Well, things should be better for us now that the first trimester is behind us. Of course, I've read some women may continue to exhibit symptoms even after. Although, I don't know if the same would be true for men... I need to do some research." She was going to pick up her phone but Baran grabbed her hand. "Don't think I don't understand what you are doing, Ms. Dilan." She was trying to act innocent. "What am I doing besides showing concern over my husband's well-being?" He pinched her nose with his fingers. "You are so sweet and beautiful. But you don't convince me. You know pretty well what you are doing." She held his hand and put it over her belly. "What can I do? We are happy you have such a big connection to us." There they were, the tears again. "What would I do with you, Dilan?" He asked as he dried her tears. She kissed his hand and then she shrugged. "Continue to love me like you do." He brought her hand to his lips but didn't kiss it, instead his lips brushed her skin as he spoke. "Speaking of love..." Electricity ran down her arm. "Now that we got the doctor's approval..." She covered his mouth with her hand. Her cheeks felt hot remembering when he asked the doctor if they could have intimacy. "I can't believe you asked her that. It was implied in her words. There was no need..." He didn't let her finish. "There was a need, Dilan. There is a lot of need and you know it." His words didn't help her blush go down. She tried to change the subject. "Baran... Don't we need to talk? Now, that the doctor has given us the clear. I want to know what you and the whole family have been hiding for weeks... I know it has something to do with Firat and Gül, but..."
What a way to kill the mood his wife had. But she was right. He needed to tell her. There was no reason to hide it any longer. Baran took a turn. "Where are we going?" He wanted to talk to her away from the house and close to the summer house. Baran was sure she was going to want to go there after. He took the forest road and stopped the truck in a clear area that led to a cliff. "Let's walk." He said as he got out of the vehicle. Dilan did the same before he could help her. He held her hand and the two began walking. "I told you at the hospital that Hassan had escaped..." She stopped. "Was that a lie?" He moved his head to the sides. "I hid the truth because of the circumstances, but I never lied to you, Dilan. I never will." They were facing each other. The breeze brought the sea smell, and the sun brought some needed warmth. They were close to the cliff. "There was an accident while they were chasing him. Hassan... Hassan died Dilan." He saw her eyes open wide as her hand covered her mouth. "Firat, Ms. Azade..." The reaction he was expecting. "I want to see Firat, Baran." The concern on her beautiful face. Baran was angry that even in death, the man he called his uncle, managed to hurt them. She marched towards the truck but he stopped her. "Dilan, wait!" She turned to him. "There is more." Her head turned to the side and she closed her eyes. He saw her taking a deep breath. She was preparing. "The meeting the other day in the house..." He waited for her to look at him before he continued. "Hassan's will was read... Half of his state went to Ms. Evin and the other half, including the company shares went to an unknown person." She took a step back. "The new partner." Baran nodded.
