Author POV
Sera froze the moment she heard footsteps approaching from inside the room. Her heart pounded in anticipation, expecting Richard to emerge and complete the trap she had set. But instead of Richard, the man who stepped out made her blood run cold.
Edward Davies.
He stood just behind Amelia, his expression sharp and unreadable. His black shirt was slightly unbuttoned at the top, his sleeves rolled up as if he had been in the middle of something before answering the door. His presence alone exuded authority, and the dim hallway lights cast deep shadows on his sculpted features, making his piercing gaze all the more intimidating. The seniors standing there was shocked to see Mr Edward Davies in the room.
Sera's mouth went dry. "M-Mr. Davies?!" she stammered, her mind struggling to process the unexpected turn of events.
Edward frowned slightly, his deep voice cutting through the tension. "What are you talking about, Miss?" His tone was cold, laced with suspicion. "This is my room. The real question is what are you doing here in the middle of the night?"
Before Sera could react, Amelia, still dazed and unsteady, leaned her head against Edward’s chest, her body seeking comfort in his familiar warmth. Edward’s eyes softened for a fraction of a second as he instinctively placed a hand on her head, his fingers gently combing through her hair, supporting her so she wouldn’t collapse.
"If you’re here to meet my love, I’m afraid she’s not in the state to talk right now," Edward continued, his voice dropping an octave, dangerously calm. His sharp eyes bore into Sera daring her to challenge him.
Sera clenched her fists, panic rising in her throat. This wasn’t how things were supposed to go. Where was Richard? How did Edward end up here instead?
Her mind raced, but she could only think of one thing to say. "Mr. Davies, what are you doing here?" she blurted out, her voice shaking slightly.
Edward arched an eyebrow, tilting his head slightly as if amused by the absurdity of her question. "Excuse me? I’m here to meet my love." His voice was smooth yet firm, each word carrying weight. "I spoke to her professor and arranged everything. Since she had a drink, I didn’t want her troubling her roommate, so I brought her here to rest."
He emphasized each word deliberately, ensuring Sera understood that he was fully aware of the situation and that her plan had failed. The seniors were smiling as they got to know what Mr Edward must be doing here with his Wife and went to their respective room.
"Tch," Amelia let out a small, irritated sound, shifting in discomfort as she leaned even closer into Edward’s embrace. His grip around her tightened protectively.
Edward sighed softly, his other hand moving to steady her. He caressed her hair, his voice turning slightly more gentle. "Excuse us, Miss Right now, I need to take care of her." Then, as if to deliver the final blow, he gave Sera a knowing smirk one that sent a clear message
I know exactly what you were trying to do bitch
Sera swallowed hard, her face pale as she took a step back. The paparazzi, who had been lurking in the shadows, hesitated, uncertain whether to take photos of the scene or disappear before Edward noticed them.
The plan had backfired spectacularly.
Flashback
Inside the dimly lit room, Amelia pressed herself against the wall, her breathing uneven. Her body felt unbearably hot, an unfamiliar warmth spreading through her veins. She felt like her skin was burning from the inside, yet her limbs were weak, heavy, and uncooperative.
