Chapter 28: Newborn army

Today was the day of the fight with the New Born army. Everyone was nervous as they waited for the baby vampires to attack. Adam more so than everyone else. He was afraid of loosing his family but there was nothing he could do about it. Bella was up in the mountain with Edward and Seth leaving Adam far off in the woods away from the fight with Alice. Somehow she was the calmest and it helped Adam a lot considering she could see the future. 

"They will be fine" Alice sighed sitting down in his lap. They were sitting on a big rock quietly waiting for any news of the fight. 

"I know they will be but that does not mean I worry" hugging Alice close Adam laid a soft kiss on her neck. Having her here is what kept him grounded, without her he would be in a full on panic thinking of the worse

It was too quiet for either one of there liking. Like a calm before the storm and Adam didn't like it. Despite Alice confidence about the fight she was still tense, as if she knew something he didn't. Considering her gift that was highly likely.

"Victoria changed her mind." Alice hissed, standing up as if preparing for a fight one that she refused to loose. "She decided the best way to make Edward and Bella pay is killing you" Turning to face her mate, she caught the worried look in her eyes. 

"Why me" he didn't want Bella to get hurt but he also didn't want to be hunted down himself. He did nothing to warrant Victoria to attack him. If anything it was her own mates fault for hunting Bella down to began with. Yet she was blaming them for his bloodlust that now lead to her vengeance on this family.

"we have to go" Alice froze turning around and hissing. "she's here, run" Alice took off in a blur of movement leaving Adam behind. H could hear the fight but there was nothing he could do. Turning he went to run only to freeze as he saw a vampire standing before him. 

"Going somewhere?" The man had a wide smile on his face as he walked towards Adam. It was slow and deliberate as if he was a predator playing with its food. In this case Adam was not far off in that thought and it scared him greatly. Know he couldn't outrun or fight his way out of this. Alice was busy fighting and no one else was near this location to help.

" Why?" Adam only thought was to survive. Meaning he needed to buy time until help came. Talking his way out of this was the only way since he was out powered in every other notion

" Victoria wants your sister dead but you" Shaking his head the vampire walked around him eyeing Adam in thought. "you on the other hand, will be a vampire. what better way to hurt her but through you"

Adam seemed to freeze on the spot. He had come to terms with the fact that he was going to be changed but he wanted his family to be the one to do it. Not some random vampire  following behind a Psycho who wanted revenge on his sister. "don't do this" His voice was shaky as he addressed the other, backing away to get some distance, no matter how futile it would be.

"Sorry" He barely saw the man move before he felt a pain in his neck.  His knees buckled and he fell to the ground with the vampire now latched onto him. he could feel him  slowly draining his blood and no matter how much he hit him he didn't budge

"Adam!" Alice voice felt so distant as he closed his eyes. He fought against the drowsiness but in the end he couldn't keep his eyes open. He didn't know if he would die or turn yet the only thought running through his head was of Alice. 

Her her smile

her hugs 

her kisses

she was all he could think of in that moment and he wanted nothing more than to be in her arms again. Staring up at the sky he finally stopped hitting the vampire biting, having no more fight in him. "I love you Alice" He mumbled finally closing his eyes and letting the darkness finally consume him.
