Chapter 29: Forced choice

Victoria had planned to get to Adam and Bella and had succeeded. Alice had seen her coming for Adam then saw her decision change to Bella. That was when she knew it was a ploy. She had knew about her gift and played her like a fool. Rushing back to her mate her eyes widened when she saw him laying on the ground with puncture marks on his neck. He thankfully wasn't dead but in transition.

Bending down to his level she cradled him in her arms. Feeling guilty for falling for such an obvious trick she couldn't help but scream out in pain. Her best friend, her boyfriend , her mate had gotten hurt and there was nothing she could do about it. she went to suck the venom out of him hoping to stop the process before leaving to stand by her family

Standing side by side with her family, she held Adam close to her chest. Turning to face the Volturi guards that walked out of the woods. Jane as always led the group followed by Felix, Demetri, and Alec . The main and most dangerous of the guards and most loyal.

"I see everything was handled swiftly, its rare to see a Cullen survive after such an attack" Jane eyed them, her eyes stopping on a fallen Adam. It was clear what had happened to him but hey could easily tell that someone retracted the venom

"No thanks to you" Edward was livid but he was also tense. Eyes traying to one of the newborns that was spared with high interest. He didn't even spare Bella a glance ash he had lost total interest when his eyes met his.

Jasper was the same way, looking to a young newborn female with love . It was as his eyes was finally open and he didn't feel so alone in a Cullen full of mates.

"Edward im sure it they had know they would have stepped in" Carlisle the leader stepped up aiming to calm everyone down. he didn't want to anger the guards and risk the safety of his family. 

"Right, the two newborns?" Felix and Demetri stepped forward only to be blocked by both Jasper and Edward ready to die for there newfound mates.

"We spared them, they did not fight and they are mated to members in the coven." Esme stood in front of her sons ignoring the guilt as Bella finally realized what was going on. Bella glanced towards Edwards clearly feeling betrayed and hurt by this turn of events. Yet she kept quiet ignoring the tears that now streamed down her face.

"that changes things but not for Adam" Jane looked towards the human that peaked her masters interest. "He was bitten yet you stopped the transition meaning your not actually going to change him"

"That's not true, its just too soon. We have a pl-" Alice looked unsure as all the guards stared her down. 

"You see "Alex stepped forward glancing towards his sister briefly before facing Alice. "We dont believe you right now. Your actions speak louder than word and your actions show your against the change" It happened to fast for the mind reader and seer to see. One second they were standing tall in front of the guards and the next second the were unable to move, see, feel or smell anything. There senses were turned off and Adam was ripped from Alice arms. 

" We will handle his transition as you all cant be trusted to do so. Only reason his not dead is because of who your leader is. You can pick him up in a year because of your action. Coming early will forfeit his life. " Jane voice was strong and demanding as she listened to Alice cry out at the loss her her mate. Her family could do nothing but listen to her cries and plead for Adams return, promising to change him tonight if they allowed it but their mind was made up. They left taking Adam along, a new toy for Aro to use.

Alice gasped, blinking her eyes rapidly, crying as she stared down at Adam's unmoving body. With her vision clear in her mind she decided against removing the venom. She only hoped Adam would forgive her once he had woken up. His other path led to his removal and joining the guard and she just couldn't let that happen. With a heavy heart she sat by his side, holding his hand. "I'm sorry my love" She whispered cradling his head to her chest. She couldn't loose him, refused to loose him to the Volturi. 

Standing up she rejoined her family all glancing Adam's way surprised. "The venom has to stay" Alice mumbled when she saw the questions swarming in their eyes. "Ill explain later, for now the Volturi. are almost here"
