Unfortunately I had to return home. I knew my father was going to question me immensely and most likely ground me for being gone for so long with no excuse. The injuries inflicted on me from the rogue wolf have now completely healed, not even leaving a scar. I was extremely grateful for it. Niall had brought me home about an hour ago and my father had yet to return home from work. He should be back within half an hour.
Once I arrived home, I got cleaned up and put on some sweats and one of Niall's shirts. I managed to grab one before coming home since I didn't know how long it would be before I saw him again. He wouldn't miss it anyway. The 'Free Hugs' shirt came mid thigh and swallowed my small figure. I rolled my black sweatpants up several times due to my short height and headed down the stairs. I plopped myself on the couch and turned the TV on to a boring rerun.
I sat there for a little over half an hour before I heard keys jingle in the doorknob. The door creaked open and my dad appeared through the doorway. He seemed slightly confused by the television noise and set his keys on the counter before slipping off his jacket and coming to investigate. I was already standing up in front of the couch smiling widely up at my father as innocently as I possibly could. Even though I knew the act would soon be futile I still used it to my advantage for now.
"Jewel." He opened his arms wide and engulfed me into a bear hug. "I was so worried about you. What happened? Are you okay? I almost sent out a search party. How could you?" He scolded me and held me at arms length. I shrunk back from his voice that was laced with anger and gave a look of innocence. I was hoping my innocent act would be able to play off my absence.
"I forgot to tell you I stayed with Melissa and spent the night at her house for the weekend." I batted my eyelashes and pouted my lip slightly. I was careful not to go overboard though as it would become unbelievable.
He frowned down at me. "Don't do that to me ever again. At least warn me next time." I nodded, smiling inside, as everything seemed to pass over.
Maybe I wouldn't get grounded and I could see Niall tomorrow. I know that we had just worked everything out, but I was already missing him terribly. I think turning into a wolf was a great excuse for the immense pull I was feeling towards him. It hadn't even been more than a couple hours since I last saw him, yet it felt like an eternity. My heart ached at the loss and I could feel my wolf whimpering inside. I kept her locked away and focused back on the current situation.
My high soon depleted as my father lifted up the sleeve of my shirt to inspect it. "Who's is this?" Uh oh.
