"Jewel?"
My head felt fuzzy as a familiar voice called out to me.
"Jewel?" I felt a gentle hand on my shoulder trying to awaken me from the darkness.
Everything hurt and I felt stiff. My eyes fluttered as they struggled to open. Bright light shined through causing me to blink rapidly and adjust to the sudden change.
"I'm glad you're awake."
My eyes followed the voice to meet a soft smile and crystal blue eyes. "Niall?"
The memories came rushing back causing me to gasp and a tear to escape.
"He d-didn't." I couldn't finish my sentence, but thankfully Niall understood exactly what I was trying to say.
His hands curled into fists. "No. He didn't. I got there just in time."
A relief filled sigh escaped my lips and I relaxed back onto the bed. My head was throbbing with pain and I remembered I was punched in the temple. Niall handed me two white pills and a glass of water.
"Take these. It'll help with the pain."
I grabbed them thankful and chugged down the water. I looked down at my sore wrists to find black and blue fingertip like marks spread out over them. I can't even imagine what my face looks like right now.
"I had the girls bring you some clothes from their houses."
A small smile made its way onto my face. "Thank you."
He nodded and smiled in response. "I'll have them bring them to you and then meet me downstairs for breakfast." The way he said it made me think there was more entailed than just ordinary breakfast.
I swallowed back the nervous lump in my throat and nodded. He left the room closing the door behind him, only for it to open right back up again.
"I'm so glad you're okay!"
"We should have never left you alone with that loon!"
"We brought you clothes!"
I giggled at their apologies and Cresh's statement of clothes. "It's fine and thank you."
They smiled simultaneously before dumping the clothing onto the bed.
I picked out red, ripped skinny jeans with a cropped t-shirt that said 'Eat A Lot•Sleep A Lot' written across it. I paired it with my usual converse.
I carefully climbed out of bed and went into the bathroom. I took a deep breath before looking up at the mirror and gasping.
There was a large, red, handprint like mark on my right cheek accompanied by a purple bruise on my temple.
I closed my eyes, taking a deep, calming breath.
Everything is okay now.
This is nothing a little makeup can't fix, right?
I quickly changed into my clothes thankful that I wasn't sore elsewhere. I took out some of Cresh's concealer and gently blotted it over the sore area. It'll have to do I guess.
I walked out of the bathroom and followed the girls down the stairs. We met up with the rest of the boys and Niall sitting around the island in the kitchen with stern faces on.
"We need to talk."
