after exiting the weapon room with loads of guns and bullets, calum swallowed hard. he knew he could do it. he was not a fucking runt for fuck's sake.

"are you ready?" wolf asked, her gun on her hand.

calum nodded as opened the car's window. "he's not coming."

just as he said this, some man who was balding exited the house with a cigarette on his hand. he was wearing a black coat that looked so expensive.

"aim for his head, calum." wolf commanded, her yes locked on the man.

to be specific, they were miles away from the man but this was only to test calum's shooting skills which wolf found very interesting.

calum looked at the man and he was reminded of someone, his father. he was surprised he spent days without thinking of his family. they were fading from his memory.

"goddammit, calum! what's wrong with you?" wolf yelled, watching the man entered the big house again.

"i'm sorry, i can't do this." calum said weakly.

"you can! you're just afraid! come on, calum!" wold encouraged the boy, she knew that if calum failed, he'd be gone. "look there he is! go on. he's just another bird."

just another bird, just another bird.

calum did it, he was still in shock the way the man fell unto the ground, the way his finger felt the warmth on the trigger, the way his eyes witnessed everything. he killed someone.

"you did it! aha! you did it, baby-" wolf trailed off realizing what she just called him.

"baby?" calum asked with a spark of sexiness in his tone.

"sorry, i-"

"stop making excuses, wolf. it's okay."

calum felt happy and it had out-shaded his guilt over killing someone. he drove back to the warehouse before getting themselves hamburgers.

"you did it, calum. see? it wasn't that hard." wolf reprimanded, looking at the sky.

calum simply nodded.

"wolf?" he was having the same little boy tone again as he spoke this, lying on the bunk bed.

"what is it?" wolf said lowly, her eyes closed.

"you know what? when i was about to shoot the man, i was reminded of my father. then sadness overwhelmed me, again. i can't even remember his name anymore. why is this happening?" calum consulted the only person he had been talking to for two weeks.

"that black thing in our body," an inhale was heard, "is a poison, calum. it makes us forget who we are."

"but why us? they could've just made robots, this is ruining our lives." calum demanded.

"i still don't know the answer to that question." wolf answered, opening her eyes and staring at the ceiling. "dean is so proud, you did the mission, neatly, calum." wolf added, changing the subject.

"did i make you proud?" calum asked, his eagerness was present again. he was really getting fond of wolf's company, he didn't bother to find someone else to talk to.

"ugh, well. you did." wolf answered with hesitation.

"good, i don't want to make anyone proud, wolf. i want to make you proud, only you." calum muttered, his words sent goosebumps to wolf's skin. the kind of feeling she haven't felt in a very long time.

"shut up." wolf who was secretly turning red, tugged herself to sleep as calum's words repeated into her mind.
