"Kayla, Casey, Lisa have you brought your presentation finally?" Asked Ms. Morris, looking at the three of us defiantly.
After scowling at me, Kayla and Casey gave the CD to Ms. Morris. Ms. Morris nodded at them. "Thank you ladies. Kayla, Casey you still have detention for 3 days. I hope it teaches you a lesson to work united when in a group. This is for all of you, if I find any of you ignoring your part when it comes to a group work and you expect one person to do everything you will get detention for one week and if it continues, the punishment may get more severe."
Kayla threw a murderous glance at Ms. Morris and I but stayed silent. No student would ever dare to talk back to Ms. Morris or go against her because she was one of the most strict teachers in Westland High. She was gentle and funny but when somebody doesn't do their homework or something equally bad in her class, Ms. Morris could turn into Snape. She never hesitates in giving detention but she was fair in her punishments.
"Class, now turn over to page 48."
The whole class groaned as they saw it was a grammar part. I love English but sometimes grammar is a little hard and confusing. For the whole period, there were only sounds of pens scratching against paper and Ms. Morris occasionally correcting someone.
As I was nearly finishing the exercise Ms. Morris had given us on prepositions, the bell rang indicating the end of the period. I looked over at my schedule, I had Biology next. I like learning Biology, Physics and Chemistry but Biology was my weakness because of the amount of memorizing in it.
"Alright class. Do the exercises on page 50 and 51 by your next class on Wednesday. No excuses for not doing your homework. Good evening!" Ms. Morris told us.
"Good evening." The whole class chorused and left the room.
I quickly left the class before Kayla and Casey could show their anger at me because Biology lab was in the next building and I had just 7 minutes until class starts. I started walking quite fast, nearly running and I didn't pay attention to where I was going because I was busy zipping up my tote. Before I knew what was happening, I crashed into someone and the person fell whilst my heavy tote fell on top of the person.
"Ouch, the hell!" The person groaned.
I pushed my spectacles back to it's place and looked at the person who was now sitting up and rubbing his torso. I gasped because it was none other than, Adam Henderson. "Oops, I am so sorry!"
Adam looked up at me and if looks could kill, I'd be 6 feet underground right now. "Oh so it's you, who else would it be other than my favourite victim? Do you want another pair of spectacles, brainy? I could get a new pair for you, a higher power one because it seems your current pair isn't doing you justice if you keep knocking onto people and throwing your damn heavy tote on them."
I felt a little self conscious, since a crowd had gathered to see The Popular Jock insult The Perfect Nerd. "Adam, I am sorry. I was a bit preoccupied." I apologized, softly.
"Lisa Brooks thinks that if she apologizes, everything will be alright but it's time for her to understand it won't. Knocking a person to the ground is alright but trying to kill someone by dumping a heavy tote of books? Not okay at all. Nerds can carry all their text books in their bag but be aware of the weight of your tote before accidently throwing it on a poor, fellow student because that tote can leave a real huge bruise and we have to be perfectly flawless all the time, babe." Adam said, standing up and thrusting my tote into my hands.
Adam was right, my tote was heavy. I wondered whether I carried some baby elephants in it. "Really sorry Henderson. You may want me to do something to gain your forgiveness but right now I am in a rush to get to the Biology lab so bye!" I said hurriedly, trying to get past him.
