Like the eye of a cyclone, I was calmly sitting inside the gym surrounded by a flurry of activities around me. It seemed like I was invisible, sitting calmly with a notebook on my lap, camera hung around my neck and a small tote by my side, whilst the other people around me were involved in many activities.

The cheerleaders were running around frantically searching for someone or other, pom poms, borrowing makeup, costumes etc. Some were chanting their slogans under their breath, some freshman cheerleaders were practicing with the seniors. The basketball players were trying to project calmness whilst they looked quite nervous under their calm facade. They too were looking around for their fellow team mates and friends. Matt and Joe were walking around, offering words of encouragement to the other players. As if they sensed me looking at them, Matt and Joe turned around and spotted me.

"Hey Lisa, it's a surprise to see you here." greeted Matt as he and Joe came towards me.

"Why is that so?" I asked him, puzzled.

"Well...you aren't a cheerleader or a basketball player, so what are you doing here?" Joe asked me.

I pointed at my camera hanging around my neck and the notebook on my lap. "What do you think, huh?"

Joe pretended to think "Ummm...a journalist?"

"Mr. Carter, your answer is...correct!" I clapped, dramatically.

"Okay, so you are a member of the school magazine?" Matt asked.

"I am the Chief Editor!" I pouted.

"Seriously?" Matt and Joe chorused, surprised.

I looked at them, puzzled "Do you guys read the school magazine?"

Matt and Joe smiled sheepishly and shook their heads.

"Maybe I should write something bad about you guys. I can write something really scandalous and you'll never know." I gave a cheeky smile before adding "Oh, there's a lot I can do!" I cackled like an evil witch, rubbing my hands together like the witches in Barbie movies do.

Before they could reply, Coach's shrill whistle echoed around the gym and the three of us turned around. My eyes almost fell out of their sockets as I saw Henderson next to the coach, with a bag lazily slung over his shoulder. I never thought Henderson was serious when he said that he was going to play in the matches. Whilst I appreciated his will power and courage, there was a part of me that was angry at him for disregarding the doctor's warnings. Even the Coach wasn't looking too happy that Henderson was playing today.

"Adam is playing today?" whispered Joe, worriedly.

"Yeah man, yesterday even he threw up a real fit with the Coach when Coach tried to do the practice without him. Coach told him that he couldn't come and Dylan was going to the temporary captain but Adam wasn't having any of it. He said quote Just because of some fucking injury, I am not giving up this tournament. I am going to win it, even if it's the last thing I ever do! unquote." Matt said in a eerily similar interpretation to Henderson.

I hid a smile at that "His injury isn't healed yet, is it?"

"No, that's why I am really worried about him." Joe said.

"All of us are worried. Though people are worried in different levels. This is one of the most important games of this season. If Adam doesn't live up to the standards expected of him, we'll have to say a premature good bye to our season." Matt informed me.

The Coach beckoned all basketball players to come over. As Joe and Matt trooped off towards where Coach and Henderson were, I closed my notebook and put it inside my bag but not before writing 'Greyson Cup is one of the most important matches this season for Westland High's basketball team as it can mean whether Westland High will be fortunate enough to continue their season or bade farewell.'
