13. Break The Nerves

It was an hour and half since the bus left the school and we had to just travel for another half an hour until we reach the stadium where the championship was to be held. The whole time, nobody spoke to me and neither did I make any attempts to speak with anyone. Henderson, Joe and Matt were busy discussing with their team mates on strategies and what not. Most of the cheerleaders were busy fixing their hair and make up or hitting on the boys. Some who had their boyfriends on the team were too busy saying lovey dovey, sappy stuff that made me think back to Jenna and Luke. There were few cheerleaders who were either listening to music using their iPod or reading some book or just looking out of the window.

I looked at the questions I made on my notebook the night before. I make them, so it's easier to write the article. If I manage to answer most of these questions whilst writing the article, I know that I'm doing a good job. Suddenly out of the blue, my phone started ringing.

Here I am, feels like the walls are closing in

Once again, it's time to face it and be strong

Everybody looked at me, the bus which was noisy just moments before suddenly just turned quiet. I blushed and fished around for my phone.

I wanna do the right thing now

I know it's up to me somehow

I dug my hand deeper into my tote but I couldn't feel my phone. I patted my trouser and jacket but it wasn't there. I panicked.

I've lost my way

If I could take it all back I would now

Oh dear, where was my phone? I was a huge fan of Demi but I'm pretty sure that this song was on Camp Rock 2 and people must be wondering what am I doing with such a song on my phone like a freshman? I put my tote away in frustration.

I never meant to let you all down

And now I've got to try to turn it all around

And figure out how to fix this

Everyone looked at me in confusion, as I got onto my knees and tried to figure out where my phone was.

I know there's a way, so I promise

I'm gonna clean up the mess I made

"Do you want some help?" Henderson asked, kneeling next to me. I didn't say anything but he looked around with me. Everybody sprung into action, trying to search for my ringing phone.

Maybe it's not too late

"Hey Lisa, is this your phone?" A cheerleader showed me a flashing phone with a sparkly pink and purple back cover.

I yelped "Yes! Thank you." I almost snatched the phone out of her hand whilst grinning at her like an idiot.

Maybe it's not too late-

I quickly answered the call "Hello?"

"Lisa, what took you so long to answer my call?" The voice on the other side sounded frustrated.

I gulped and looked at the caller ID. 'Editor Sue.'

"Um sorry Ms. Sue." I looked at the other and gave them a fleeting smile of gratitude before going to sit in my seat as the others turned back to whatever they were doing.

"It's alright. I just called your home and your mum told me that you are going to the Greyson's Cup to cover the event for your school magazine." Sue told me.
