The game started with the first pass going to Forbes. The ball seemed to be going between our players and the Forbes but in the end, Forbes High shot the first goal. I could see our team, frowning in disappointment. Even our cheerleaders deflated as the Forbes High cheerleaders waved their blue and yellow pom poms in the air. I looked at Millie who was busy capturing photographs of the play. Millie had agreed to lend me some photographs for the school magazine and I didn't have to even offer her anything in return. Millie was a kind soul.
I diverted my attention to the game. It seemed that our team would be the next to shoot a goal as the ball was in our hands. I almost cheered when Adam caught the ball and was to shoot. The whole stadium went quiet and held their breath, waiting for Adam to shoot. Our cheerleaders were preparing themselves to cheer. Adam did shoot but failed to gain us a goal and he couldn't take another chance, because the Defensive Center of the other team managed to catch the ball.
"Oh no!" a voice softly cried out.
I turned behind to see Luke with Jenna. I almost screamed in surprise.
"Hey, what are you guys doing here?" I asked from Jenna and Luke.
"Can't the former captain come to see one of the most important matches of the season?" Luke asked me with twinkling eyes.
"Okay, but what is Jenna doing here?" I asked, raising my eyebrow at my blushing sister.
"Well, young lady, she's being the good, supportive girlfriend accompanying her boyfriend to the matches." Luke smirked.
"Looks like my sister has lost her voice because you are talking instead of her, Luke." I smirked back whilst Jenna blushed even harder whilst Luke too had a faint dusting of pink tinge his cheeks.
I turned my attention back to the game and gave a small cheer as Adam poised to shoot once again and this time, he managed to score the first goal for Westland High! The crowd went wild and I could hear Luke and Jenna screaming "GO ADAM GO!" I couldn't stop myself from screaming "WESTLAND HIGH!" out loud either. I saw Adam smile a small smile, the tension from his shoulders visibly deflating a bit.
As the cheerleaders returned to their seats with a sparkle in their eyes, I turned to my notebook and wrote 'After the first two goals were clinched by Forbes High, one of the strongest teams this season, Westland High's star shooter and captain Adam Henderson managed to gain the first goal for Westland High.'
Kayla turned to me and said "No need to praise Adam so much."
I looked up at her, confused "What?"
She pointed at my notebook "Must you write that?"
"Yes." I replied, baffled, wondering whether Kayla knocked her head somewhere.
"Well, I know you are doing this because you like Adam." Kayla said coldly.
I raised my eyebrow. "How many-"
Kayla cut me off. "Yes I know what you are going to say, but don't forget we saw the kiss in the morning."
My cheeks flushed bright red as I remembered the kiss to my forehead "It was just a kiss to my forehead." I defended hotly.
"That doesn't mean it's nothing, you were having this lost, daydreamy expression afterwards." Kayla pointed out.
"I did not and Kayla, you do not have to be jealous because I do not and will never like Adam. Feel free to make him yours." I told her, hotly.
Kayla glared and left me to join her other cheerleaders.
"What's this about a kiss I heard?" Jenna asked in a cheeky tone.
