I just walked past a student been disrespectful to a teacher, and when I said the teacher wasn't giving the exact energy needed, I was serious. It was that bad. One thing I noticed at this school was that the majority of the teachers avoided most students. Only a few of them commanded respect. At one point, I suspected that the teachers were afraid of the students. Which was strange, especially if you came from where I was coming from.
Attending Brixford College, exposed me to a different world. Because, since the moment I set foot on this school grounds, I have witnessed a variety of events that I would never see on a normal day. Both negative and positive.
The term was gradually coming to an end. My first term here was coming to an end.
"Are you coming to the cafeteria?" Otelematel spoke from behind, catching me off guard.
"We were asked to come to practice." I answered, looking her in the face.
"Who and where?" She inquired, surprised.
"The basketball coach." I answered.
"Buying into you guys' time is unfair. Absolutely not cool.” She said, but all I could do was nod.
“They are really stressing this competition matter, it should just come and go, let's us all rest. To think it's always Ss3 student, the whole load lands on.” She complained. "Personally, I believe the school should take a step back; instead of Ss3 students, Ss2 students should attend annually; it is still the same thing." She added.
To be honest, what she was saying was not bothering me at this point. There is a saying "Everybody get wetin dey do them"
There was a party I was supposed to attend tonight, and I was thinking about how to get my supplies there without any hurdle, the location was far from home, and running into the police was an option, I needed to diverse a plan, besides Jomil told me big men children, the big fishes were certainly going to be there, my target audience. I couldn't miss it for anything.
She waved her hand across my face, clearly trying to get my attention, and it brought me back to reality.
"Are you listening to me?" She inquired.
“Sorry dear, my mind is just on what a team member said.” I said.
“Okay, let me not take your time anymore.” She said smiling. "Talk later?" She asked.
"Yes." I responded when I realized she was waiting for my response.
In the blink of an eye, the supposed brief practice had devolved into a fistfight.
"I will fuck you up, Asher. Dare me." One of the Science boys yelled and launched an attack, while the team members attempted to separate them. The boy refused to let go, fighting everyone who tried to hold him back; all he wanted was to launch at his target.
