Chapter 55: A Surprisingly Unsurprising Reveal

Shuigang Island – Unknown Location, Morning Hours

Deep within the unknown facility, the infirmary pulsed with artificial life, the circular room, lined with reinforced plating, housed an array of machinery—autonomous drones hovered above while mechanical arms protruded from the walls, each equipped with various surgical tools. Wires slithered across the floors, connecting each piece of medical equipment to the central operation table at the room's core.

At the center, lying motionless upon the table, was Brevon. His body, still draped beneath a medical covering, bore the scars of his previous downfall. Above him, Syntax moved with precision, her tendrils coiling and extending as she prepared for the operation.

"Beginning operation: separation of the titular, cognitive, and ocular repairs," Syntax announced in her monotone voice, the mechanical arms whirring to life as she initiated the delicate procedure.

Serpentine remained silent, his gaze locked onto his master's broken form. He would never admit it aloud, but seeing Brevon in such a vulnerable state made his stomach coil with unease.

"It is quite surprising," a voice interrupted from behind.

Serpentine turned sharply, his narrowed eyes locking onto the figure stepping into the room.

"That even with such grievous injuries, he was able to persist and survive. Perhaps now I understand how he managed to amass such power."

The voice belonged to none other than the Heavy King. The towering machine entered with an air of quiet authority, his crimson optics scanning the scene before him, the golden trims of his body reflecting the flickering glow of the monitors. The scepter in his grip pulsing faintly.

"And what do you think you're doing here?" Serpentine hissed, shifting into a defensive stance. His claws twitched with the urge to strike. "This facility is restricted to Lord Brevon's forces, scrapheap!"

Heavy King remained unfazed, his expression unreadable as he took measured steps toward the operation table.

"There is no need for hostility, General," he replied calmly, his optics briefly flickering as he observed Syntax's work. The android had already begun making precise incisions, her tendrils moving with the efficiency. "I am simply here to observe."

Serpentine's lips curled in a sneer. "And what makes you think I trust you?"

Heavy King did not react to the provocation. Instead, he crossed his arms, his presence unwavering.

"Trust is irrelevant," he stated matter-of-factly. "What matters is Lord Brevon's recovery. Without him, none of this would have ever been possible. And if your concern is betrayal, rest assured—soon enough, any potential threats will be... eliminated."

For a brief moment, his crimson optics flickered green before settling back to red, a subtle but deliberate display of intent.

Serpentine remained still, his eyes slightly widening in surprise, he said nothing as he turn his head to look towards the ongoing operation.

The room was soon filled with the rhythmic whirring of machinery, the sharp hiss of pressurized instruments, and the faint crackle of electrical surges as the procedure continued. Neither of them spoke further—there was nothing else to be said. They merely watched in silence, awaiting the moment their master would rise again.

Pangu Lagoon - Ancient Temple

The ancient dragon temple echoed with the sound of clashing quills, whips, and fists. Explosions and gunfire reverberated through the air as the battle between Sonic, Lilac, and the Hooligans raged on. Dust and debris rained from the cracked stone walls with every impact.
