Chapter 58: Draconic Intervention

Shuigang Island – Unknown Location

In the confines of the unknown facility hidden deep within Shuigang Island, the infirmary lay shrouded in eerie silence. Drones moved in patterns, dutifully maintaining their long-term patient, who had been sedated and restrained with tubes and wires on a narrow, metal bed.

As one of the drones approached to check on the patients arm, the limb suddenly jerked to life. In a swift, violent motion, it clutched the machine, its grip shattering the robot into a cascade of sparking debris. The remaining drones faltered, their programmed routines coming to an abrupt halt as sensors registered the impossible.

Slowly, almost deliberately, the patients form began to stir. His eyelids fluttered open, revealing a pair of burning blood-red eyes that glowed with extraterrestrial fury. With an unearthly strength, he tore away the tubes and wires that had long subdued him, his guttural grunts echoing off the cold walls of the infirmary. A primal, resonant yell erupted from him that reverberated powerfully throughout the facility, announcing his return.

In that charged moment, Syntax rolled into the room, her sensors immediately locking onto the awakening figure. In her synthetic voice, she could only say one thing.

"Welcome back, sir."

The intergalactic warlord had awoken—fully reanimated and exuding an aura of relentless menace. Now, he was poised to finally eradicate those who had dared defy him.

Relic Island – Shuigang Bridge

At the same time, at the heart of the archipelago.

"Uh... anyone wants to try their luck...?" Amy sighed as she sat on the cool, dew-speckled grass at the entrance of the Shuigang bridge. Her fingers idly toyed with a worn deck of purple tarot cards she always kept on her, lost in thought. "Maybe we could entertain ourselves with them, you know?" she added, half-joking, thought her tone lacked any humor.

"Uhhh, what are those for?!" Milla gasped as she crouched down in front of Amy. "Do they, like... read the future?!"

Amy chuckled softly at the pup's enthusiasm. "Kinda? It's more like reading possibilities—it's not always accurate and can be really random, met Sonic that way actually."

Milla's ears twitched. "No way!" she yipped. "That sounds like it could be super handy! Like, super-duper handy! Think about all the trouble we could dodge!"

"Could have come in handy way before..." Carol groaned as she lay stretched out on the grass, hands resting behind her head. Her voice carried a tired note. "Maybe it could have stopped all this before it even started or something..." she murmured, her eyes scanning the scene before them.

The atmosphere around the Shuigang Bridge was palpable, thick with anticipation and unease. On one side, the soldiers of Shang Tu stood with weapons drawn, their eyes locked in steely determination. On the opposite bank, the army of Shang Mu held their ground just as steadfastly, each soldier bristling with tension.

Between these opposing forces, a heated debate raged among the representatives of both sides—Mayor Zao, General Gong, and Neera.

"Are you kidding me?!" Mayor Zao screeched, as he was perched atop Leonard's broad shoulders, flailing his arms dramatically. "My glorious city needs far more than just half of the Kingdom Stone's energy! We deserve all of it after everything—have you not seen what happened to my glorious city mere days ago?!" He whined, his foot accidentally swinging back and colliding with Leonard's face.
