Chapter 50: Time to Finish the Second Course!

Egg Thermos - Final Chamber, Night Hours

The room was eerily silent except for the incessant blaring of alarms, a stark contrast to the stillness between the two figures standing at opposite ends of the room.

At one end, Sonic stood tall, his green eyes gleaming with resolve despite the chaos surrounding them. His confident smirk was firmly in place, which contrasted sharply with the pure fury etched into the face of his opponent, Lord Brevon.

The atmosphere was almost suffocating. Both seemed to understand that this confrontation would be a decisive moment.

Finally, it was Brevon who broke the silence. "Sonic the Hedgehog, isn't it?" His voice was a low hiss, dripping with barely restrained anger. "We finally meet."

"Same goes for you, Brevi," Sonic shot back, his tone casual and teasing. Brevon's eye twitched at the nickname.

"Hoho, man I can't believe what Torque said was true—you really do fit the alien stereotype!" Sonic quipped, his grin widening. "Well, only in the green skin department. You're missing the big black eyes and the whole running-around-naked thing. So I'll give you a solid 5 out of 10 for trying." He shrugged nonchalantly.

Brevon's growl was low and dangerous, his fists clenching at his sides. "Is this some sort of joke to you?"

Sonic opened his mouth, ready to toss out another jab, but his grin faltered as he glanced around the room. His eyes landed on his friends, huddled together. They were bruised, battered, and exhausted, telling of the fierce battles they had endured to get this far.

His gaze lingered on Torque, who was slumped against the wall, clutching his side as he struggled to stay conscious. Tails, too, was barely standing, leaning heavily against Amy for support. But it was Lilac who drew Sonic's attention the most—her wounds were the worst of all, her breath coming in ragged gasps. Yet, even in her weakened state, her magenta eyes burned with hope.

Sonic's fists clenched as he turned back to Brevon, his expression hardening. His lighthearted tone disappeared, replaced by a quiet intensity. "Wish that was the case..."

Above them, Syntax cut through the chaos. "The facility will explode in 8 minutes." Her glowing eye flickered with urgency, the countdown displayed ominously in her projection.

"That so?" Sonic muttered, taking a step forward. He glanced back at his friends. "Knuckles and the rest of you—take the most injured and get out of here. Now."

His words were firm, leaving no room for argument, but the reaction was immediate.

"NO!" Lilac and Tails shouted in unison, their voices trembling with panic.

"Sonic, don't! Please!" Lilac's voice broke as she pleaded with him. Tears glistened in her eyes as she tried to move, only for Carol to grab her shoulder, gently holding her back. They had only just reunited with Sonic, the thought of losing him again was unbearable.

"Go!" Sonic's voice rose sharply, filled with urgency as he spun into a ball and launched himself at Brevon. The alien warlord barely managed to raise his knife in time, the impact of Sonic's spin attack sending him skidding backward several meters.

Knuckles clenched his teeth in frustration, with a desire to argue, but he knew there was no time. "You heard him!" he barked. "Move!" Without another word, he scooped Torque onto his shoulder and bolted toward the exit.

Amy hoisted Tails onto her back while Carol gently carried Lilac in her arms, the dragon struggling quietly as she glanced over her shoulder at Sonic. While Milla was ready to follow her friends.
