Chapter 57: A Message from the Past

Shuigang Island – Unknown Location, Noon Hours

Inside the depths of the unknown facility, inside the chamber with towering computer servers, an cluster of monitors displaying the web of data.

Metal Sonic stood motionless, his optics fixed on the main screen. His blue-plated body gleamed under the monitor's light, his fingers twitching ever so slightly in anticipation as he guarded the room. The display before him tracked the progress of the Robobotnik Virus, finally nearing its completion.

His red optics narrowed as he observed the cascading lines of code. Soon, Brevon's reign would crumble—not through brute force, but through a single, silent strike from within.

Once completed, the virus would be their key to ambushing that pathetic warlord. Once they gathered the remaining Emeralds, his forces, no matter how advanced, would fall under their control.

Metal Sonic tilted his head slightly, the logic was irrefutable. There was no need for excessive destruction when control was far more efficient. Brevon's army would be stripped of autonomy, reduced to nothing more than pawns on the battlefield.

His forces rely on coordination... obedience Metal Sonic thought to himself. Reconfigure their command structure when they don't notice, and they cease to be his.

Through this, Brevon's army would become nothing more than their puppets. Soon, this miserable world would be reshaped, molded in the image of his creator's vision. No resistance. No interference.

No him.

Metal Sonic's fingers curled into a fist. That copy—that unbearable, fraudulent imitation—had defied him for far too long. The mere thought of it sent his processors into overclock.

His creator had designed him to be superior in every way. Faster. Stronger. Unstoppable. Yet...

Every encounter ended the same. Every battle, every pursuit, every test—Sonic, the faker Sonic, still stood.

No more.

Once this is complete, Metal Sonic thought, his optics flickering with a burning red glow, there will be no more delays. No more failures.

He would finally...!

A sudden flicker. The screen wavered.

Then—

ERROR. ERROR. DOWNLOAD FAILURE.

The monitors let out a harsh static screech before plunging into darkness. The once-flowing streams of code halted, replaced by an empty void of black screens. Sparks burst from a severed connection, sending a brief flash of light through the room.

Metal Sonic's optics flared in disoriented confusion as he scanned the area, his internal circuits momentarily overwhelmed. What...happened?
