Q: Do you participate in these challenges?

A: I've participated in some. There are so many though, I doubt I'll get around to trying all of them, which is why others participating and telling me what works or doesn't will help in fine tuning the challenges.

Q: Why must I follow the rules?
A: What's the point of a challenge unless it is a challenge? One of the points is to share one's stories, but it is to share stories that meet the plot requirements as that is what the readers are expecting to read. Submitting something that doesn't fit the requirements just upsets the readers.

Q: Are there any prizes?
A: Nope. These challenges are set up so you can work at your own pace, and the reward is finiching something.

Q: Why can't I break away from the rules of grammar as part of my personal writing style?
A: Grammar is not part of one's personal writing style except for very specific circumstances. The breaking of the rules is supposed to convey meaning, not to make ones work unique.

Q: Why are OCs not allowed unless needed or stated?
A: The point of the challenge is not to show off your OCs. Not being able to use an OC also forces a writer outside of their comfort zones, and the difficulty level changes.

Q: When are OCs needed?
A: Original Fiction of course will use OCs exclusively, and Popfic may also need to expand the cast with OCs. OCs can also be used to fill out the cast where canon characters wouldn't work, but this does not include shipping.

Q: What about reader inserts?
A: Reader inserts count as OCs.

Q: Why is next generation stories not allowed unless otherwise stated, or they have their own stories?
A: A non-developed next generation characters functions just like an OC, the only difference being the name and looks are already decided. This is why they need to have their own stories, and no, being introduced in prologues doesn't count.

Q: Why are crossovers not allowed?
A: Crossovers can change the difficulty level of the challenge.

Q: Why are their word limits?
A: Making a story fit within a word limit is a challenge, but can help build writing skills.

Q: Are there any due dates?
A: For most challenges, no.
