In A Few Days

Leo was just leaving bunker 9 when he realized that he forgot to check on Festus. He went back inside to do a quick check-up and say goodnight. But laying there where Festus usually was, was just a piece of paper. The note was written a month ago and Leo always forgot about it until he came to check on Festus, who wasn't there.

He read the note: Dear Leo, Remember that you let me take Festus to Camp Jupiter. Remember that I said that I wanted to explore this world that is so new to me. Do not worry, we said goodbye, you even showed me how to use all of Festus's features. I had a feeling that you might forget, so that is why I am leaving you this note. I am going to visit every state along the way to Camp Jupiter. I will be gone for a while, but do not worry, I have mortal money, but I only brought three drachmas. I will use them when I reach camp and only if I run into trouble. I want to try to be one with nature. But you can always Iris message me if you need to. Do not worry about me. I will be back before you know it and with Festus too. Love~ Calypso <3

Leo ended up reading and re-reading her note every week. He always thought about what they were doing, where they were, and how much they've already seen. Leo didn't bother to IM her though. He knew she loved nature, and he didn't want to interrupt her in any way. But if Calypso said she would call, then Leo knew that he just had to wait. She did only have three drachmas. It was a good thing she left him that note. He really would've gone crazy. He would've forgotten that Calypso left, then think that she was missing and with Festus. He'd be wrecking through the country trying to find them.

Leo read the note again and laughed. Calypso knew he'd end up forgetting and doing something crazy like that... He missed her...

Then he heard a voice behind him, "Leo?" it was a voice he would never forget.

"Hi Leo." she said. "I know it's late, but..."

Leo turned, "I know Hazel..." he sighed and put the note back. "I should get to bed..."

Hazel gave him a sympathetic smile, "Don't worry about her. She'll call when she gets to camp."

     "I know..."

"Yeah, and when we get back, we'll be sure to IM you the second she lands." Frank said smiling.

Leo looked up and walked towards them, "Thanks man! I know you will! Say hi to Reyna for me too okay? And be easy when you tell her I'm actually with Calypso. I don't want to go breaking any hearts now." he winked and Hazel giggled.

     "Leo..." she giggled.

"Yeah yeah! I know. Just kidding!"

"But we will tell her you said hi." Frank patted Leo on the back, "And don't worry, we'll keep the cat fights down to a minimum." they laughed in the night.

"Okay Leo, let's go. It's almost curfew, the harpies will get you... except for Ella." Hazel smiled. She took Leo's hand and led him outside.

When they were outside the door to bunker 9, Leo turned around to close the door and said, "You guys go on. It usually takes a little time to close this thing."

Hazel and Frank looked at each other then back at Leo. He knew they were still there and said, "Seriously guys, I'll be fine! Now go before it gets too dark. I can light my own way. Fire, remember?" he turned to them and smiled reassuringly.

They said goodnight and walked back to the cabins. Leo waited until they were out of his sight then looked at the giant door. He touched it and started working to close it. When in was finally shut he watched as it 'disappeared'. Soon, he was standing at the edge of the forest, on a cliff, looking over CHB.

He sighed then turned around. There he stood face to face with a girl. She was wearing a white tee-shirt and jeans. Her hair was tied back and she was riding a bronze dragon.

"Hi Leo,... I know it's late, but... I ran into some trouble." she said through the Iris message.

Leo was concerned, "What? What's wrong?"

"Well... I said I'd call if I ran into trouble, and it troubles me... that you're so far away... Are you okay?"

He smiled and watched her hair flow in the wind. Her eyes sparkled in the moonlight, and he could see the reflection of the moon on the back of the bronze dragon.

He looked into her eyes through the mist and said, "Yeah, I am now."

She smiled and said, "I only have two drachmas left. I will call you again at camp Jupiter. I will be there in a few days. Goodnight Leo and Festus says 'hi'." and she blew him a kiss.

He said goodnight and watched as the image faded away. Leo walked back to his cabin and stopped at the door.

Leo looked up at the stars and smiled. They shined just like hers. "See you in a few days..."
