Back To School

After the war with Gaea was over, the whole crew decided to finish up high school, even Nico and Reyna joined the 7. However, because Hazel was still 13 and Nico was 14, they had to finish middle school even though they're both about 80+ years old. So, Percy talked to his step dad, Paul, who was still working at Goode High School. He asked Paul if it was possible for him to register Nico and Hazel at Goode as freshmen. Paul had to pull a lot of strings but eventually he was able to get Nico and Hazel registered as freshmen. Besides, Nico would be turning 15 and Hazel would be turning 14 anyways. 

So on the first day of school, the 7 plus Nico and Reyna, all received their schedules. They all shared what classes they had, but they didn't care as long as they had lunch all together. Unfortunately, they all didn't have lunch together. Percy, Annabeth, Frank, Jason, and Reyna all had a separate lunch than Nico, Hazel, Leo, and Piper. Later they found out that the lunches were separated between upper classmen and lower classmen. Percy, Annabeth, Jason, Frank, and Reyna were upper classmen, being juniors and seniors. Nico, Hazel, Leo, and Piper were lower classmen, being freshmen and sophomores. 

But, they all had honors AP Latin together. They spent the entire class just talking and hanging out since they all finished their class work faster than any of the other students and they all had the highest grades too, easy A's. 

One day on the way to lunch, Nico and Hazel were making their way to the lunch room to meet up with Leo and Piper, when some senior guy shoved the two to the ground, spilling his lunch all over them. Nico looked up and saw that it was the guy from Nico and Leo's gym class, everyone called him Beast. They called him Beast because he was huge and looked like a senior, but was too dumb to ever get passed freshmen year. He hated Nico and Leo because the two had become the new champions of capture the flag in their class. Beast used to be the champ, not anymore. Even Hazel was better than him. He hated her too. 

Beast spit at Nico and Hazel, "Stupid freshmen." he snickered and high-fived his "gang" 

"Says the 17 year old freshmen." Nico muttered as he helped Hazel stand. 

Then a girl, one of Beast's friends, stepped forward, "Ew. You two look like garbage, which is better than what you usually look like." she giggled with her other snobby friends.

"Listen kid," Beast growled, "you and your friend stay out of my way or you're both gonna get a big knuckle sandwich from me, on the house." he put his big hands into fists.

Nico stood square to Beast. Nico was the size of a walnut compared to Beast, but Nico stood his ground, looked up and met Beast's eyes, then spat in his face and began walking away with Hazel.

Beast wasn't happy. He ran after Nico and shoved him, hard, slamming him into the ground. Nico lifted his head and wiped his nose. Blood. Hazel helped her brother up and cleaned his face with her sweater. 

Then Beast picked Nico up by the shirt collar and put his hand in another fist, "You think you're tough don't you?"

"I don't think I am," Nico said as he was held by the shirt, "I know I am."

"Really? Well, mister tough guy, I'm going to beat the crap out of you, and no one is gonna stop me!"

Nico simply chuckled. "What's so funny?!" Beast demanded, then there was a tap on his shoulder.

Beast turned around and saw a short curly-haired guy standing there with his hands casually in his pockets, "Excuse me, my good Beast, but uh, that's my friend."

"Valdez.." Beast scoffed, "And what are you gonna do about it?"

"Well," Leo said with one hand over his chest, "I wouldn't want you to get hurt, but uh," he pointed behind Nico, "they might not care." he shrugged.

Beast turned back around and looked behind Nico. The entire gang was standing beside Hazel, all arms crossed. 

Leo joined them, "So Beast, I suggest you give me my friend, or we will unleash a different kind of beast." he smiled playfully and held his arms out ready to catch Nico.

Beast stared back at Nico, growled, and dropped him, "This isn't over."

 Leo caught Nico and dusted off his shoulders, "Thanks guys." Nico shrugged.

Leo swung his arm around Nico's neck, "Don't worry about it! We'll get him back. It's his team against ours in capture the flag today." 

Nico grinned evily, "Perfect."
