Chapter 45:Day out?

"and then the teacher gave me a star because I got the answer right." Hope sat across from Henrik smiling widely as she told her uncle about her day at school. She was talking his ear off but he didn't mind. He enjoyed his nieces attention and liked hearing about her day. It was always the highlight of his.

"Your so smart Hope" He commented focused solely on his niece . He watched how her eyes would light up as she talked about her new friends, a new game she learned and how she enjoyed her new school. Times like this he wished his siblings were here to enjoy her stories as well.

He knew the day they came for her would be the hardest day of his life. He saw her as his own and knowing one day he would have to give her back hurt. It was something he dreaded but knew would happen someday.  

"Go grab your shoes, gonna head to the movies" He didn't have to tell her twice. She was halfway upstairs after he said shoes squealing about seeing some princess movie that had just come out. shaking his head he got up just as Bella walked into the house. She froze when her eyes met his

"We need to talk" she was nervous, picking at her nails as she took in his form

"Can it wait, I'm taking my niece out" He honestly did not was to continue this conversation. He was in a good mood and she seemed to drain his energy whenever she appeared. Honestly it was annoying and he didn't have time for it

Bella glanced towards the stairs smiling softly when she saw Hope walking down. "how about you and Hope join me instead. How about it Hope, wanna play baseball and do some bonding?"

Henrik eyes widen a bit before settling in a glare.  It was a cleat manipulation tactic and before he could deny it Hope squealed running into Bella's arms." that sounds like sooo much fun, can we uncle Hen" Hope looked in Henrik's eyes when she asked. Her puppies eyes was something he was weak too and no matter how much he wanted to tell her no he nodded. 

"fine"" He mumbled shooting Bella a glare. This wasn't over in the slightest and he was sure they would be having words later about it. she was bold using his niece against him and from the scared look she now held he knew she was regretting that action right now but it was too late. Hope was ready to go and he himself was utterly pissed at her.

Following her out the door he got into his car, silently noting Edward driving the other car that held Bella. The drive was short and when they pulled up to the field he saw the rest of the Cullen's present along with two new faces. One look at everyone's faces they all seemed surprised even hesitate seeing Hope get out of his car

Hope took one look at the family and frowned "why the cold ones?" she turned facing her uncle confused on why there were so many vampires here. 

He didn't blame her in the slightest. He was always picky when it came to the supernatural and was around her. That didn't mean she didn't know of them. He was sure to educate her about the different species in the world which is why she knew what they were from one glance

"She knows" Rosalie seemed upset staring at Henrik as if he was crazy

"Why wouldn't she, Like I've told you before. Yours laws don't matter to my kind meaning she's allowed to know" Henrik stepped forward still pissed.

"Keep your human and check next time you send her my mind. I don't like getting manipulated, this is your only warning. "Henrik whispered not wanting Hope who was fond of Bella to hear but he knew the vampires did. Edward was the only one to react. He pulled Bella to his side shooting glares his way.

"Lets play!" Hope ran around her uncles legs and onto the field. Her childlike nature instantly destroyed the tense atmosphere. Bringing out small smiles from the people present. She was a ray of sunshine and anyone could see it.
