"I don't wanna be your friend, I wanna kiss your lips."
|Nova Sinclair |
"Okay, Nova," Naina takes a deep breath and looks into my eyes, "Here's what you're going to do: you're going to forget about everything, like, don't even think about it anymore. And you're going to start over again."
The moonlight shining on her face makes the room dim and the air is cold from the rain earlier.
"Understood?" She asks me. Silently, I nod.
It's not like I'm hurt or I imagined he and I could be something, I was kissing him purely for the rushing thrill of it; a certain risky kind of fun.
Still, I didn't expect to see him making out with the girl that ruined my life. Honestly, if it was someone else, I wouldn't have reacted much, but it was her.
It takes me back to those days almost a year ago, I remember them in fragments.
Cool breeze, tear-stricken nights, yelling, screaming, and all sorts of trauma-giving kind of situations– and she was the root cause of it.
Sure, I hung out with Kio just hours before he committed, doesn't mean I was responsible for it. I wouldn't even think of hurting Kio.
Meanwhile, Serena was bullying him his whole life.
With a deep exhale and shake of my head, I let my thoughts drift away. "Let's go shopping for tomorrow." Naina's eyes light up.
Tomorrow, we have the winter ball called the Rêverie d’Hiver, whatever that means.
In 15 minutes, me, Naina, Zaira and Ada are stuffed inside a small cab we found on the streets of upstate New York.
"It's so silent here, someone play music." Ada complains.
Immediately, Doja Cat starts playing from Naina's phone and the vibe in the car is suddenly uplifted.
The boutique we reach looks small from the outside, spawning out on only a single floor.
But upon entering, I realized just how huge the shop is.
We spread out in different directions trying to find the one. 20 minutes in, my eyes lay on a bright red flowy dress, tight on the upper part.
Even after roaming around another 20 minutes, I couldn't find a dress as good as that one, let alone better than that one.
My phone pings with a text from Zaira asking me to meet her at the dressing rooms with my dress, I realise everyone else is already there.
"Time to try them out!"
"Naina, how many-?" Ada stands there with a shocked expression after seeing Naina's hands. In fact, we can't even see her hands because they were covered by dresses.
