"We only met each other just the other day, but you already got me feeling some type of way."

| Theodore Abott |

It was at that moment I unlocked a trait of my personality.

Quick thinking—or so I thought.

"Theo, hey. What's up?" Nova greets me, her tone laced with confusion, but my attention is locked on the black-haired, tattooed guy standing beside her.

Gosh, does she have connections to the mafia?

"Who is this guy?" I gesture toward the Ronan wannabe. Everything about him screams trouble, and honestly, he terrifies me. "Why are you hanging around with creeps?"

"He's..." She stumbles over her words, visibly taken aback by my accusation. Her eyes dart toward him nervously. "He's from Malibu. I’ve known him forever."

"Your ex? Is that him?" The question comes out before I can even think, and for a brief moment, I almost regret it. Almost.

She freezes, caught between indignation and surprise, but before she can answer, Ronan 2.0 stands up. Slowly. Menacingly.

He steps closer to her, pushing her gently behind him as if to shield her from me.

"What the fuck is your problem, man?"

His piercings and harsh glare only fuel my anger. I’m not sure if it’s jealousy, rage, or something I can’t name, but the blood rushes to my head, and I start seeing red.

Now, you may want to ignore this semi-embarrassing moment, but even I didn’t expect what followed.

I shove past Mr. Tattoo, ignoring his curses, and grab Nova’s hand, pulling her with me.

"Let go of me!" she protests, but I don’t stop until we’re outside, my feet leading us into a narrow alleyway.

Finally, she yanks her hand free, her chest heaving with frustration.

"What the hell is wrong with you, Theo?" she snaps, her voice echoing in the confined space.

"Wrong with me? You're the one—"

"Excuse me? You’re the one who just dragged me out of there like a psycho!"

There’s a fire in her eyes, a passion I’ve never seen in her before. Her cheeks are flushed, her breaths quick and shallow, mirroring my own.
