"Street racing?" My eyes go wide as I take it all in, the music, the crowd and the fucking cars.
"Yep, Ronan runs it. He found it too."
That actually makes so much sense. He seems like the type of person that would do this.
"I wonder what today's line up is." We walk to the front of the crowd, really close to the cars.
"So everyone is here? Our friends?"
"Yes, they are. They'll be hard to find, though." He then spots someone and calls out, "Luca!"
A guy with cropped brown hair walks up to us, pushing through various people.
"Hey man, how's it going?" Then he nods at me, smiling.
"We're good, yeah. Who's going up today?"
"First, Val is going against her boyfriend or bestfriend, I'm not sure. Then, I'll go against someone. The last one, we're still searching." He adds after lifting an eyebrow, "It's open if you wanna think about it."
"Right, thanks. We'll let you know." Theo claps him on his shoulder and smiles.
"Val is Ronan's sister, by the way. Luca and Ronan have been best friends since birth. He's in college now so they don't see each other often. That sucks."
I nod as I try to process everything. Tell Nova 3 years ago that she'd be involved with illegal people, she would jump off a cliff. Literally.
Back then, I was Miss Goody Pants.
"Wait, you feel like racing?" He turns to me with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"No. Not today. Not ever."
"Come on, it'll be fun."
"No, Theo. This is my first time so let me be. Go if you want, though." I put my hands up.
"Nah, I'll give you company."
"Okay." Internally screaming.
The girl with braids from yesterday's party, walks to up to the pink car as the crowd starts cheering. Then a blond guy follows and gets into the black car. People start booing.
