"So often in our quest to become more popular and be part of the in-group we lose sight of things that are far more important".
Today, the fast food restaurant was unusually crowded. I was just so glad we had decided to come early. These were one of the few days I would spend here. Stella and Justin were having one of those debates of theirs. This time it was about global warming.
"I'm telling you, Stella, televisions contribute highly to global warming", Justin said.
"Tell me, Justin, how do televisions do that?" Stella asked.
"You see, when the television is...." Justin started to say, but I cut him off.
"Cut it out already!" I shouted, causing a lot of people to look in my direction.
"Someone's feeling cranky", Justin said in a singsong voice.
"Karen, what happened?" Stella asked me.
"I'm moving", I simply responded.
"Again?" Stella asked, surprised.
I nodded.
"And after my dad had promised", I added.
"So when are you leaving?" Stella asked again.
"Probably next week", I answered.
There was silence for a few minutes but Justin broke it.
"What about we visit all our favourite places?" Justin suggested.
"That's a great idea, Justin. Let's start now", Stella said.
We immediately left the restaurant and sat in Justin's blue Toyota Camry. We then headed towards our favourite destinations. I arrived at home quite late and after having my dinner, I went to my bedroom and soon fell asleep.
Over the last few days, I visited all my favourite places with Justin and Stella. I had become so attached to everything unlike with other places. I thought I would be staying here permanently when Dad promised we would not move again. Apparently, I was wrong. I can't believe I was so gullible to believe Dad. I knew after this incident, I would have a hard time believing in Dad's promises.
