"All pirates searching for the treasure One Piece must brave the second half of the Grand Line. These wild and dangerous seas are known as the New World."
"Gold Roger and his crew were the only men to chart these waters and learn all the secrets they held."
"For the rest of the pirates in the world, this has proven to be the end of the road. A graveyard of dreams."
"Now, Y/n L/n, a young man who ate the Ox Ox Fruit Model: Water Buffalo, set sail into the New World with his faithful crew."
'I'm gonna become the King of the Pirates!'
The ocean was a world of silence and wonder, yet silence had become a fleeting concept for two members of the Bludgeon Pirates. "They are one of them... they are one of them..." the voice rang out again, ghostlike and watery, vibrating in their skulls rather than echoing through their ears.
Y/n's brows furrowed as he glanced at Inoko. She was clenching her jaw, her hands hovering over her ears, her face tense. "It's still going for you, too, right?" she muttered, twitching slightly as another pulse of static-like whispers reverberated through her mind. "Yeah," confirmed Y/n as he watched the confused gaze of his friends.
"You must guide them," a sudden voice said. But this one was different. It was deeper and older. But what this voice said felt more like a presence than a message, like the weight of the ocean itself had spoken directly into their bones.
"I will show them..." came a third voice. Sharper, clearer. Brimming with confidence. Both Y/n and Inoko stiffened at the same time. Their eyes met for a split second, and then, silence. Not the silence of peace but the silence of something having... passed.
The sudden lack of sound made it all the more jarring. "Wait, what the hell?" Y/n whispered, blinking rapidly. "It's just... gone?" he added as Inoko rubbed the back of her head, clearly frustrated. "What was that? Three voices... now nothing?" she said.
Just then, Toshiro's voice rang out from the other side of the deck. "Are you two still hearing things?" he asked, one brow raised behind his goggles. Both Y/n and Inoko turned toward him, shaking their heads in sync.
"Nope," Y/n replied. "It just stopped," he said before Inoko nodded. "Yeah. Creepy timing, though..." she trailed off as Toshiro let out a sigh, scratching the back of his head. "Maybe it was some leftover resonance from being this deep down or-" he began.
*Whoosh*
Before he could finish his sentence, Toshiro froze just like everyone else because they saw it before he did. The way every single one of his crewmates suddenly stopped breathing for a second. Mouths parted. Eyes wide. Even Kieran looked like he'd just seen the ghost of the sea itself.
Toshiro stared at them, one hand still mid-scratch. "...there's something massive behind me, isn't there?" he asked before Rindo nodded slowly. "Like...huge," she confirmed. Bracing himself, Toshiro turned around, expecting a giant squid or a Sea King.
