Backstory: Masaru was born on Emerald Island, where bonds between neighbours were as strong as family ties. But that peaceful life was shattered when pirates attacked. It was a brutal invasion that claimed lives and nearly took everything from him. Masaru, still just a boy, watched helplessly as those he loved fought bravely yet hopelessly to defend their home.
Salvation came in the form of a single battered Marine ship. Among its crew was a man whose words never left Masaru's heart: "Not every pirate is evil... and not every marine is good. But if we want kids like you to sleep peacefully, someone has to fight for them."
That marine, wounded but smiling, gave Masaru the answer he had longed for: hope. In that moment, Masaru vowed two things: to become the kind of protector who could offer that same hope, and to one day build a family he could shield with everything he had.
Masaru's rise through the Marines was swift and unwavering. He trained relentlessly, not for power, but for purpose. During an operation on the Grand Line, he crossed paths with Kana, who decided to leave her home island with him.
